Can any doctor prescribe medication for morning sickness? Please answer if you know!

OK... I am pregnant and EXTREMELY sick. I have been sick for 6 weeks now! My next OB appt is in Dec, and I am going to see my family out of state this coming Tuesday, so it's too late to schedule with them. Does anyone know if Primacare or Care now doctors can prescribe medication for morning sickness? (like Zofran or Phenergan, whatever an OB/GYN would normally prescribe.) I really can't waste my time or money going up there if they can't. I have waited and waited to take meds because I didn't want to in early pregnancy, but I feel like I'm going insane. I've tried almost every other method I could. I'd appreciate any ideas!

Is your sickness lasting most of the day? Do you feel dehydrated at times, unable to keep ANYTHING down? You may have hyperemesis, which I have. I had it real bad with my first pregnancy. I was on zofran then, and I am on it again now. My OB prescribes it.  An ER Dr prescribed it the first time for I had to go in for an IV.

If you have a good relationship with your OB, you might be able to give them a call and have them prescribe something over the phone.

Missi....loving wife to Jason, mommy to Ricky (1-12-05), and soon to be mommy to Logan Douglas (due Feb 2010).  I'm a cloth diapering, baby wearing, breastfeeding till baby wants to quit, homeschooling, non-circumcising, anti-cry it out, part time working, animal loving, trashy romance novel reading, farm raised hillbilly.  I have had Meningitis and Swine Flu and lived to tell about it.  Any questions?

I got awfully sick when I was pregnant but it started at 8 weeks. I took B6 vitamins and benadryl. As soon as I took benadryl the sickness stopped instantaneously.  Doctors don't really like you to take benydrl until after the first trimester is over but I did, not the full dose just 1 pill (regular pink box kind). My doctor approved it when I researched some of the main ingredients that are in the benadryl was in the prescription they give you for morning sickness. It worked for me at least. Good luck. I only was sick for 3 weeks thankfully.

It lasts ALL day. I can keep food down if I hardly eat anything, and I can't drink at all because that's what really sets it off. I only have little sips of water throughout the day.

If you get to a point where you are vomiting all day, even just dry heaving, go to an ER. I've needed IV treatments 4 times this pregnancy already for dehydration. I'd call your OB and tell them what you are going through.

I kind of doubt it. I have only been to her once so far... and I have a feeling she will want me to come in.

I can't afford it. After I get back from visiting my family, we are taking  our first big vacation in December. We are going to Canada to see my in laws. So we are having to save as much money as we can. I know it's not physically threatening at this point, I don't think I am very dehydrated, and I haven't recently lost weight. It's just mentally wearing me down. I feel like I'm going to scream if I have to deal with it for one more second!

Honestly you need to get on zofran. You have insurance right? Zofran is VERY expensive, but there is now a generic version. I take one every morning to take away the horrible nausea I feel. I will probably be on it the entire 9 months. You need to get food down for you and your baby. Call your OB and tell them what you are going thorough and say you want zofran.
