Im doing a statistc type thing for sociology. Id like to know if you are or are not on state assistance. ( Food stamps, Wic, Housing, cash assistance ect...)
If you would like, Id also like it if you can answer if you were married and divorced, or if you have never been married.
Im not trying to start a bash fest, honest to god this is for my class. I'm trying to write a paper on the increase in single parent homes and the affects it has on the US over the past 15-20 years.
Id like to get at least 50 votes. If you can, can you bump!
I am going to say that when i was a single mom for 11 months, I did recieve food stamps and my daughter was medicaid. I worked two jobs.
Divorced single mom. Ex husband won't work and mooches off new wife, who is apparently loaded, to avoid getting garnished for child support. I don't get cash assistance, just FS and medical for my daughter.
Thank you for answering.

When my children were younger (now 15 and 17), I did receive benefits (food stamps and medicaid). However, I was working full time and going to school part time, the benefits were supplemental since my income was high enough to rule out any cash benefit.
Oh...and I was never married.
Im a single mom getting assisstance & working to get off of it.I get wic cash assisstance & food stamps i work part time & i go to school part time
I voted other and I will let you decide how you use my answer.
I am divorced. Have two kids with my ex husband. Am now living with my SO and we have a kid together. We are not married and manage our finances mostly seperately. I collect child support from my ex.
I receive foodstamps and medicaid for my 3 kids alongside WIC.
I am a full time student (starting in January again) earning my masters degree.
I just don't know what you consider a single mom...
If it helps I was on assistance 18 months ago, before SO moved in, so at that time I was living alone with just the two older ones.
hmm.. If its alright im going to use your reply in the Divorced and on it, since you were on PA before your SO moved in and your finances are separate.

I'm going through a divorce, I lost my job in July. Still haven't found a new one, looking hard tho. I am only on Food Stamps, I make too much w/unemployment and child support to recieve medicaid, so my children and I are uninsured. When I had a job we were not on any type of assistance and hopefully I will find one soon so we can get off.
