MY son not sure what to do i feel like such a screw up =(
I am not sure what to do with my 17 year old anymore. He has chrones disease, Aspergers and he is bi-polar. And before he was diagnosed with chrones he was misdiagnosed with rectal cancer that is a whole other problem in it self. He will be turning 18 on January first. But here is the real kicker his girlfriend of 5 years is now pregnant and so I offered to let her stay with us and so now she is living with us which I am fine with. But my son was in a mental health hospital from last Monday till this Thursday. Because his girlfriend walked in on him cutting himself down there. Well ever since he came home all he wants to do is just curl up on his girlfriend and rest and he freaks out if he is not with her all the time. I am not worried about there schooling they both have 3.5gpa or higher. But before my son was admitted he wanted to join the army. I feel like I keep screwing up to be completely honest with you I blame myself for all of my son’s problems mostly because my kid was born three months premature. Although I do have a fairly clear idea who triggers my son’s bi-polar episodes it is his dad. My soon to be ex he blames everything on Cory and it is so frustrating. I just feel like such a screw up and I keep second guessing myself on everything and I keep getting so stressed I just am not sure what do to anymore.
well i'm not sure what advice to give to you but i will bump you
Hugs to you and your family. I hope he can get some more help before baby is born.
you need to go over to the autism group momma... not here! you are asking for a lot of problems posting here. many of these women are nice women... but they have neurotypical children and do NOT HAVE ANY concept of what you are dealing with.
below is the link to the group.. hope to see you there.

Is he in counseling? Is she willing to help and support him to get better? All you can do is guide him and her and do the best you can. Sometimes you need to step back and allow others to help, contact a counselor for help. Something are just out of the parents control. My sisters is mentally ill and there is nothing my parents could do for her after a while they had to step back and let someone more experienced guide them to help her. She is 24 now and doing fairly well.
Also, in no way is it your fault that your son was 3 months premature. I was 3 months premature, but blessed with no health issues from it.
Momma im here if you need to talk. Good luck and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

i agree, groups more specifically for autism spectrum and bipolar may be more of a help to her than this group. I only know about bipolar since bf has it and all his children save dd (with me, 3yo) have it as well.

I agree. I have an autistic son but he is much younger than yours and I don't even have a clue and I know what autism is like. Good Luck to you.

Wow thats stressful, Im glad to hear he has a girl-friend though, that should make him a little happier i would think.
i have a teen aged son... but he has autism, not bi-polar.
and.. they are one thing seperately... completely different when running co-morbid. there is little about autism i CAN'T tell you.
but.. when you combine the two the rules change and then i go from being able to help.. to not so much!
but there are many moms who deal with this exact diagnosis of autism and bi-polar. they would be able to provide a great deal of insight.
