So my daughter is 2 now and everyone kept saying i should get her ears pierced but in my opinion i wanted to wait until she is ready to tell me herself thats what she wants....But now when i wear earings she freaks out because she cant wear them so anyways i was thinking of getting her ears pierced but is it to late? everyone i had talked to about it said its better to do it while they are younger... To those mamas who have children with ear piercings, when did you get it done? did they cry alot?? just want some advice before i make up my mind:) thanks ladies!!!
My mom took my DD to get them done at about 18 months. She said that she started to cry but then she saw everyone saying awww...so she hammed it up.
I think they will cry for a minute but it honestly doens't hurt. Just stinks for the most part. It won't last long at all. And if she decides that she doesn't want them when she is older then she doesn't have to put any earrings in.
My daughter is 2 years old right now. I will not get her ears pierced until she is much older. I had my ears pierced young and my ears were always infected. I will give my daughter those stick on earings until she is old enough.
I am an educated, breastfeeding (it IS best, there is nothing even close to that nutrition and bond), co-sleeping, extended rear facing (if you don't rear face to the maximum of your seat, you're NOT doing all you can to protect your child), baby wearing, Non spanking (I want my kids to respect me, not fear me) ANTI- CIO, cloth diapering, organic (chemical free household!) recycling, liberal, pro-choice, atheist mama to a beautiful two year old girl! My S.O. is my equal and my best friend, not my master and I believe basic health care should be a human RIGHT not a privilege!
I got my DD's ears pierced at about 3 months old. She screamed like a banshee, and I almost wanted to scream with her, I felt so bad! She only screamed for a short time (like less than 5 minutes between both ears.....not sure exactly how long but it seemed like FOREVER!) I got it done at Walmart, so you know there was somebody there who wanted to call CPS, lol, and EVERYONE was staring at me. I wanted it done early so she'd be used to the earrings, and not mess with them. It worked...she NEVER even touches them. Hell, I don't even think she knows that they're there. Good stuff. That's just my experience. At around 2...I KNOW my daughter would be messing with the damn earrings ALL THE TIME. How do I know that? Because anything that she is ABSOLUTELY NOT supposed to be into.....she is. Go figure, lol. I'm glad I did it when I did.
If you want it to be her decision and make sure its what she wants, why not get her clip ons?

research the place you go before you get them done. and learn about gun piercing vs. needles (not just the pain factor but the SAFETY!) there is a lot more to it than you think. don't just let anyone who watched a 15 minute training video and practiced on a teddy bear pierce your child....please!
We had our DDs pierced before 1.. .the first at 4 months.. the other at about 7 months. ..It was a lot harder on our 2nd DD when she had them done later. ..but both are fine now and have had no problems. If she is asking to get them done just tell her it will hurt for a little bit but she will be ok. Make it a full girl's day. ..get it done, then do some shopping, get lunch etc to distract her. If you aren't comfortable doing it now then just wait and tell her earrings are for big girls like mommy and get her some clip on ones to play with.
Oh trust me, ill make sure its legit before i get it done somewhere, im really weird about people touching my kid and not knowing what they are doing, but isnt every mom?? i think if and when i do it, im just goin to take her into a professional piercing shop like the piercing pagoda or something along those lines.
