I have a 5mo old daughter and she has me worried. Most of the time it seems that her hands and feet are purple. She does clench her fists alot and thats when I notice her hands, but her feet are purple as well. It's not all of the time, but it happens a lot. Should I be worried, could it be poor circulation? I never had this w/ my son.
Any one else?
it sounds like a disease my mother has called Raynoids disease. I think i spelled that right. But if she does have that you need to get her to the doc ASAP to get blood test's done to test for that because what that disease does is restricts blood flow to the hands and feet and they turn purple and feel really cold. It also hurts them like hell! My mother has to take meds the rest of her life just so she can keep the blood flowing and avoid amputation. Always keep the hands and feet warm so blood is flowing!
Definitely make an appointment with her doctor. That's not right at all. Don't know what could be causing it, but she needs to be seen ASAP... personally, I'd take her to the ER this weekend while it was happening, so they could see, if it's not something that happens constantly... But that's just me. I know that when my Dad's hands and feet started turning purple, it was because he was having a bout of acute congestive heart failure. Once they got the fluid under control around his heart, it got better.
Like everyone else said, it could mean those parts of her body are not receiving enough oxygen. Check her nail beds and her lips to see if they are a bluish tint. If they are, then she should definitely go to the Dr right away.
It could just be that they are cold also. Have you felt them and noticed if they are cold?
Her lips are not blue. Just her hands and feet and again it's not all of the time. My DH and I noticed about a month ago, but it keeps happening. They are cold to touch and her CRT is slow. Maybe I will call the Doc.
Thx!
it sound exactly like what i said. keep mittens and socks on her and make sure she is warm at all times! Her lips don't have to be blue for raynuads(thats the proper spelling) infact it's usually just the hands and feet that are affected and it is most common in women.
