Tricare Prime birth control question..

Does anyone know if Tricare Prime covers Essure?  I was going to get my tubes tied when Joshua was born 2 weeks ago but the hospital I gave birth in doesn't do that procedure.  It was a Catholic hospital, but the best in NW Florida so I cannot complain.

They should. They cover pretty much everything. Sometimes it depends on your age and how many kids though.

Yes Tricare Prime does cover that, although I was to get it through the post hospital, all you need to do is make an appointment with you PCM and take it from there...sometimes they require you to do a consultation appointment before you actually get it.

Call your local base hospital, call to speak to procedures, tell them you want a consult for getting your tubes tied(you have to have one) and they will set you up an appointment. Once approved you can either go to the one on base or get transfered off base

yeah I was all set to have my tubes tied but then had to deliver at a "high risk" hospital.  I got some information from the doctors office I am being taken care of for my post-natal care but they didn't know if Tricare was going to cover it.  I know you have to have a consultation and there is a waiting time to make sure you want it.  I am 33/34 in December and my dh is 41, we are done with kiddos.  We have 3 now.  I am gonna call Monday and get an appointment with my PCM but wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna waste my time asking about it if they don't cover it.  I guess in the mean time I will get Depo Shot because I am not a good pill taker.
