freecycle?

how do u use it? i have tried a few times and it just doesnt make any sense.....any help...?

You post stuff that you want to give away and you read the posts of what others have to giveaway, if you want something that someone has, you reply to that post and hope you are the first to reply! Hope this helps!

You are part of a group that is typically through Yahoo Groups. If you have stuff to give away you create a post saying "Offer: blah blah blah" in the title. Then give a description of the item and anything else such as pick up this weekend or what not, then click post. It can take awhile for the post to show up because the moderator would need to approve it. The same kind of methods for posting a "Wanted" item, just put in Wanted instead of Offer. Make sure you read your groups guidlines some have different rules than others.

Now if you find something that you want, click on it and then reply. You are basically writing an email to the person that is giving the item away. Not all people will respond to your email and they basically give the item to the first person that responds or who could pick it up the fastest.

If you're confused on where to go, from freecycle.org, just find your city and join their group. Once you have joined the group, you can easily access the group again either through freecycle.org or through yahoo.com/groups.

You go to www.freecycle.org On their site, you then find the group for your city/town, or the nearest ones... then you join the group, it's usually a "Yahoo group" and set your group settings to individual emails. If you take the "digest" notifications, you'll only get one a week, and in my experience, once the stuff is posted, it's usually only a matter of hours before it's gone. If you're lucky, you've got a very active group, with lots of members.

 

 then if there are things that you want, you can post them, but the general rule is, for every "want" ad, you need to post an "item offered" ad. Otherwise, you just look through the "items offered" ads, check to make sure it's not already been posted that it's gone, respond to ads that interest you, and if you "won" the item, by being the first to respond, the person who posted the ad will then contact you about picking it up. It's very easy, and I've given away some very nice things, that I no longer needed, and I have gotten things that have been really awesome. (I've also picked up stuff that's just plain crap, and was not necessarily as nice as described, but it is what it is... free stuff... and by far, the majority of items are as nice as described, or even nicer.

OKay, go to Yahoo Groups and search for _____ freecycle (insert your towns name) or the name of a bigger city closer to you, if you live in a small town. Then different FreeCycle groups will pop up, and you just join the group and participate!

Go to freecycle.org and look for the the group that is in your area or closest to you. You sign up, most groups have a "first you OFFER something like say you want to get rid of some of you old coats you post it, someone will reply saying they are interested, you arrange pick up with that person and that is that. Then you can request an item(s) you want/need like say you need baby clothes/toys, someone might reply saying "hey I have some clothes you can have" you guys arrange pick up and you can also reply to other people's post for SEEK/OFFERED items....
