Always happen at the worst possible time! Actually I got searched last night going home with my best friend and 5 month old in the car. I love that they take safety seriously but honestly, hello you let the obvious drunk driver through and stop us? Then get pissy because I stand next to my car because my infant is in the backseat. Oh well at least they were quick and only half ass did the search.

They always do them at inconvenient times! Like when my husband was already late for a meeting, they searched our car. Just yesterday they ran a mirror along the bottom of my car- was real quick and only took a minute.

I know lol! They freaked out after they stopped me and saw the baby in his seat. They were walking around saying "what do we do?" and "she has a baby!" Once we got done my friend just said "Gee didn't realize it was so strange for a woman to have a baby!"

Wow...ive never heard of random car searches. Though i have nothing to hide i would not agree to it. A cop stopped DH and I coming home from work one night (both Nurse Aides) and we were in my parents car. Well they saw my moms Nitro in the car door and tried to say they needed to search the car. i argued with them and said they couldnt. i won. I dont feel it neccesary to search my car for no reason. Where do ya'll live at that they do that?

ROFLMAO now if it had been me, I would have busted up laughing at those comments.
They can not do random Vehicle Searches here in Oregon unless they have probable cause. they tried it once and it was found unconstitutional under Oregon's Constitution.

I have never been searched, but DH has! I got stopped at one of the DUI check points and the officer asked if he could open the door to see if DD was fastened right (She is RF so he couldn't see from just looking back there)
They thought DH was high when they stopped him for speeding because his eyes were blood shot (he had the flu) They didn't take into account the runny nose and cough, lol!
If your talking about a RAM (Random antiterrorist Measure) on a military base... they are a pain in the butt. I got stopped once, but my husband is Security Forces and has to complete them every day he's at work. He hates doing them, but it comes down as a rule from the pentagon.
It's one of those things that sucks about going on a military base, but once you enter, you give the military complete control. They always seem to happen at the worst times too!
Vehicle searches are so much fun aren't they. I swear there was about a 2 week window one winter(when we were stationed in Alaska) where everytime we went through the front gate we would get flagged for a search. One time(of course when I was alone) they even made me take my kids OUT of their carseats too. Grrrrrrrrr!

Here, Indiana, the DUI check points were banned. A acquaintance actually got stopped by one during an emergengy, he threw a big fit and actually ran for state govt. he did not win the election, but he got the "rolling road blocks" declaired unconstitutional so they no longer do them.

Op is talking about going on and off a millitary base and they have the right to randomly search any vehicle going onto or leaving a base. In the civillian world the police have to a warrant, permission, exigent circumstances or search in conjunction with an arrest.

i was going onto base once, and had like 5 folders full of papers b/c we'd just moved so it was all medical records, vet records, new lease etc....and it was incredibly windy and i had my daughter who was 10 months old at the time in the back seat. of course they wanted all 4 doors open at once, so what happens? i'm chasing medical records down yelling at the MP's that if they touch my kid i'll kick their butts. finally one of them closed his lane down and helped me. i was soo pissed, i even offered to open and close doors for them instead of opening them all at once, but noooo. now i flat out tell them no way am i opening all the doors they'll just have to deal.
