If you have cranberry sauce with your Thanksgiving dinner...*POLL*
Is it homemade, canned or store-made (from the deli)?
Just curious...I had to buy some today and it just made me wonder.
Oh, and is it jellied or whole berry? I LOVE whole berry, MIL only eats the jellied kind.
Whatever CRAP comes out of that can is NOT cranberry sauce. Making it homemade takes very little time and effort and tastes a MILLION times better...
We can NOT win a war if we don't identify who the enemy is. We can NOT have a country if we don't have and enforce our borders. We can NOT be a unified country without one common language.

We had my hubby's grandma down for dinner a couple of Thanksgivings ago...so, we have the canned whole berry and canned jelly. She asked where the cranberry sauce was. DH pointed it out....she said "I only eat the cranberry celebration from Kroger's Deli." DH said that info would of been nice to know yesterday, while the deli was open. She said it was ok, she has some at home and drove 5 miles home and back to get her own cranberry sauce. DH thought it was hilarious, so did DD, who was only 4 at the time. She kept saying, "but, the cranberry stuff is right there on the counter!"
Nobody in my family besides one of my cousins eats cranberry sauce. So we always buy 1 can of the jellied cranberry for her!

This post made me think of something else...my MIL (whom we live with) never checks the pantry or fridge before grocery shopping, if she sees something and wants it, she buys it. THEN ends up with a ton of whatever (we now have 4 containers of mayonnaise because of her). DD's school just had a food drive the last week. I was going through the pantry with her to see what to donate. She said, "look mom, we have 7 cans of this stuff, let's donate 5 of them." What was it? MIL's cranberry sauce. I went ahead and put 4 cans in the bag, took her to school, then went out with my mom. Got home, MIL had just got home from the store. What was in one of the bags? Three cans of cranberry sauce! As she was putting it away, she made the comment she didn't know she already had 3 cans! I laughed so hard, she asked what was so funny and I HAD to tell her she had 7 cans in there this morning!
Someone in the family always makes the whole berry kind and it's super yummy. But for leftover turkey sandwiches I love the smoothness of the canned jellied cranberry sauce. So we have both but the side dish one is always homemade.
My DF is working this thanksgiving so we are staying home and having a quiet little family dinner (just the 3 of us) and I am making whole berry sauce. I've made it before and it turns out soooo yummy and it's fast and easy to make! I also use OJ or cranberry juice instead of water to make it and put orange zest in to make it even better!

My kids and I don't eat cranberry sauce so I don't buy it. :)

Everytime I make it, and it is good... out of habit the inlaws always go for the canned anyway b/c that is what they ate growing up. So this yr I'm not bothering. I bought the canned kind,.
