How long did it take you to decide your kids names?

We are ttc, but naturally i wondered about names, I got one for a boy (came to me in a dream), but girls are harder, I'm afraid they'll go forever nameless, but that's my irrational and silly fear.

for my son, we had his name picked before we knew by the doctor that he was a boy ( i KNEW he was... didnt even come up with a girl name, lol )

my daughter... took FOREVER! i found out I was pregnant when I was only 3 weeks along. so it was a loooong pregnancy, lol.

at around a month we started seriously looking at names. it took 3 months to come up with her first name ( Keira ) and then another 3 months after that for her middle name ( Bailey ) I was 7 months pregnant when she finally had a name.

i really wanted to have a name picked out by 28 weeks because that is when I had my son and I wanted to be prepared.

First kid with my husband was always Sean Patrick.

Second kid with the idiot I met a few years after husband died was supposed to be Joseph Foster, named after both of our grandfathers but after he was born I couldn't call him Joseph, Joey or Joe, it didn't seem right.  His birth certificate was changed to Nicholas Foster.  Ironically enough, it was my grandfather he wasn't named after.

First kid was suppose to be a girl but I knew he wasn't.  We did have a girl name because I could have been wrong, gasp, it was Caitlin Michelle or Kasey Cheyenne.  I knew I wasn't having a girl though so that name wasn't set.  I really liked Kasey Cheyenne because is it Kasey or K.C.?  You decide.

In answer to your question each were decided within a month until Joseph turned into Nicholas after birth.

DD had her name picked out years before she was born, lol.
The first time I saw MIL's name, I knew I would name my daughter Anisa :)
If we ever have a boy though he will be nameless. I would have the same fear! I have heard many people see their child and the name just comes to them!
If we have another girl, her name is already picked out, Mariam.

Boy names were harder for us. For my daughter, I knew her middle name was going to be Charee (after my friend who was killed in a car accident), and my husband was looking through a name book and said we are naming her Madelyn...I threw other names out there, but he was insistent, so her name is Madelyn Charee.

For my son we thought of TONS of names...at first it was going to be Braxton...then Camden Parker. We had decided Camden Parker up until two weeks before he was born, but changed it because my grandmother told everyone we were naming him Condom (sad I know). So then I wanted Connor, but my husband wanted Maddox (still I do not like this name too much) so we have Maddox Connor (but call him Max mostly).

The names will come to you, it just takes a while! Good luck, and enjoy the process instead of stressing over it so much!

I decided before I was pregnant that I would at least name my daughter somehow after my grandmother Starlene so we went with Serenity Starlene. Ijust remember hearing the word one day and then reading the prayer out of nowhere and thats what came to mind. It hit me and I was in love with it.

My sons name is my hubby's middle name and my dads middle name as well. Andrew Dean.

I think that if it came to you in a dream that is most likely what you will name him, due to the fact that I personally believe that someone sent you that name for a reason. Just my personal opinion.

for my first daughter about four months, for my son i knew i wanted his name to be after his dad except his middle name which took about four mo.s. we didn't know the sex of these two, just figured and got it right. for my third child we knew she was a girl but only hab boy names picked out so 'd say about five months for her first name and six months for her middle name after i heard of it.

With our first we had his name picked out the night we found out we were pregnant....Zachary Armand.  And we actually picked out our second's name when I was 5 months pregnant with our first.  LOL  He's Alexander Ross.

We could never agree on a girl's name though; we had a couple that we liked, but they never called to us like the two boy names did.  Our girl names were Isabelle Renee and AvaLynn Therese.

I believe something like that too, i dunno about a specific person (maybe it was him, the child, like his soul or something maybe).

I'm all that stuff (like listening to your inner voice, got me 200 dollars once lol).

my first was named after my great grandma Sarah Elizabeth, and my second I always say my dh pulled it out of his ass. LOL! We were discussing names one day and he told me to wait a minute and went in the bathroom to do number 2 then came out and was like Kaitlyn Marie , and I was like I love that. I was about 5 months pregnant when we picked that name.

It was always easier to pick out boy name for me. With my DD I have a boy name picked out from the beginning. Then I picked out a girl name, and then it changed a few times before finally deciding at month 8 what her name was going to be.

With my DS, his first name was chosen in the beginning. I still had other names I liked. I can't remember which month I was when I finally decided what his full name would be.
