Brushing a toddlers teeth! I need advice!

DD is 21 months and is Ms. Independent. She doesn't need momma for anything, at least that's what she thinks!
She loves brushing her teeth, always has. I give her the tooth brush first and let her "brush" them and then I do it after her to make sure they are done right (when she does it, only the front teeth get brushed)
Well, she has decided the past few days, she does a good enough job and doesn't want me to brush after her!
She purses her lips, clenches her jaws. It is frustrating!
This is obviously a power struggle I have to win, I don't want her to have bad teeth, so do you have any advice?

I've always told my dd what can happen to her teeth if they aren't brushed properly. She has never wanted to have to go to the dentist and get a shot! Good luck!

My 14 month old and 2 year old did the same thing.  We solved it by brushing their teeth first and then letting them do it.
