help! retroverted uterus!! freaking out!

Hi everyone! I'm in my first trimester of my first pregnancy and I'm freaking out here!! I had my first OB visit this past friday and my doctor told me I had a retroverted uterus. However he didn't really explain what that means. I did a little research on it and I'm so confused. Some sites say that *most* women go on to have a healthy normal pregnancy while others say that *most* women have a misscarriage. Now every little cramp I have is freaking me out. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Dec 1st, as he wanted to check and make sure everything was ok (yes I realize its early to have one at 10 weeks) but I don't know if I can wait that long.

Has anyone had this, or know anyone that has had this problem? What was the outcome?

 I found this:

Retroversion of the uterus occurs when the uterus tilts toward the back instead of the front. You may hear retroversion of the uterus referred to as a “tilted" or "tipped" uterus. Though having a retroverted uterus sounds a bit scary, the truth is that it is perfectly normal; about 20% of women naturally have a retroverted uterus.

I also have it and I have a 4 1/2 yr old son, and I also had a miscarriage last May. I am pregnant now, my OBGYN never said that my uterus is what caused the miscarriage.

My sister had two normal healthy babies with one. I don't have the issue myself but I thought I would bring a positive note in there with it. Now, she did miscarry a twin with her last pregnancy but they don't think it had anything to do with her uterus. I think it's cause she had 11 pound babies and her body was like..wth..two at once?

thank you also!! We just got ourselves excited over this unplanned miracle and then read that this "can cause" miscarriage so we were freaking out quite a bit.

I have one. And I have a beautiful DD and another baby on the way. It apparently corrects itself later in pregnancy, but sometimes goes back after delivery. That is what mine did anyway. Good luck! I am sure you will be fine :)

OMG yikes!! lol

Thank you also. All the positive is really helping me to calm down. My sister is a member on here and she is the one that told me about CM and to come get some advice. I'm getting more and more excited every day now.

I also have a tipped and tilted uterus. The only thing that sucked (for me) was AFTER having my children when they come in to check and see how your uterus is doing...they had to push and mush and press HARD to figure out exactly where my uterus was....THAT was painful, lol.

Other than that....I had other problems (not related to the uterus being tilted) like preeclampsia with both kids. That was absolutely awful.

You'll be fine. A LOT of people have this and they've had healthy, happy, content pregnancies that resulted in happy, healthy, content babies. :)

that seems to be a big issuse for people.. they hear something from a doctor and run home to look for answers on the internet... but not everythign on the internet is true or properly researched... always ask your ob to explain things if you have questions KWIM?
