I ended up taking my 14 year old to the hospital yesterday to get stiches in his head..he had to have 11 of them....well they prescribed a medication for him to take...a form of amoxicilling plus clavulanate it is a penicilling type of antibiotic......it is called augmentin...well its was going to cost a $1,000 to get this filled....without insurance....and right now I'm having problems with my insurance not going through....this medication is in liquid form cause my DS can't swallow pills....but anyways a $1,000 is ridicioulas......I called the hospital today to see if they can prescribe something else that don't cost that much but they can't but they did find it cheaper at another pharmacy for me...which will cost 255.00 dollars.....but still that is enough....
Oh medications are ridiculous. I think Augmentin is available in generic form though. Have you checked Wal Mart, WalGreens, Rite Aid and any others that do the cheap generics to see if its on their list?
My 2 year old takes Prevacid and if it weren't for our insurance, it would be $209 every month. This is especially ridiculous considering it just went OTC and I could get a 28 day supply of caplets for $12 with coupons (he takes a solutab). Thank heavens for good insurance, it only runs us $9.

Then Now

Medication is absolutely ridiculous but I have to say I have never seen Augmentin cost that much...even without insurance.
Medication is far to expensive...I have to go without the ones I need a DH only takes the ones that are absolutely 100% necessary.
