she's in JAIL! *update*

my daddy called and asked if my husband was home so i put him on the phone and i go to check later and my husband is looking up jails and bonds men! come to find out my little sister is in jail for a DWI! I can't believe she was so dumb to drive after drinking (although my husband thinks it could be that she was driving high because she smokes pot a lot - or maybe both).... either way I can't believe she's in jail right now! - My baby sister! my husband is a cop (although she got arrested in the next county over) and i looked at him and  said, 'well, you couldn't help her out with that one even if you wanted too'

so now my daddy is trying to get to the bail bondsmen to pay the $2000 to bail her dumb butt out of jail OY VEY!

*UPdATE*

So while I agree with all of you that she should have to stay there longer, it isn't up to me and my dad got her out this afternoon. He says she's going to have to pay for the bond (but i doubt that will happen). She has to go to court and her license is suspended... i hope she'll shape up after this. I really need to talk to my dad and see if we can get her into some kind of program or get her some kind of help (we breifly talked about it today... my grandma wants her to see a psychologist and my dad said my mom, before she died, had talked about that as well). It'll be hard to convince her to go though... we'll see...

oh and she was speeding and driving drunk... i'm sure she had been smoking pot as well but she didn't have any one her so she got lucky that she didn't get that added on to it

Jail is what happens when people make poor decisions like that.  Thankfully she didn't get in an accident and hurt someone.  I agree with the poster above - hopefully this will be her wake up call and she won't make that mistake again.

Sorry - drunk driving makes me furious.  I feel like people have a lot of nerve to drive around drunk while I have a family that could be on the road.  I just don't take it lightly.  My son's father is a substance abuser and he's in and out of a jail all too often.  I dread the day when he actually hurts someone.

I'm sure you're upset, and please know that I mean no disrespect to you. it's hard to be involved in that stuff with someone you love.  Very scary.

I just want to apologize if my reply above was harsh.  I'm sorry if I upset you or anything.  Like I said, it hits very close to home in a very scary way.  Friends?

i understand completely where you are coming from. my dad is actually a recovering drug addict and alcoholic and i don't know why my sister is on this downhill spiral and is completeely unwilling to acknowledge any of my advice for her. drunk driving is one of my husbands biggest ... pet peeve, if you will... he can't do anything to help her and even if he could he wouldn't - she really needs to learn her lesson... thanksgiving should be interesting this year...

Sorry, I don't have any sympathy for her especially what happened to us yesterday morning. Might be better for your dad just to leave her in there for a while to think about what she did.

my bil is in jail too. For choking his stepdaughter and his son.

If it were my daughter, I"m sorry, but I would not bail her out.  I would make her sit in there a few days so that the severity of the situation has a chance to sink in and scare the crap out of her!

I'd leave her there.  In fact, last September I did leave my little sister in jail and took care of her 2 daughters for the 6 weeks she was there.  Your family may not be to that point with your sister yet though.
