(Im sure this has been discussed)
But do you think its fair for people to get back thousands of dollars, especially when they DONT pay that in?
My mil, who is the only one working and on PA, got back almost $7000. I know she didnt pay that IN.
How is that fair?
Why is it fair to make people pay MORE who have already paid IN?
Why dont we just "call it even" and say nobody gets anything, but everybody has to pay throughout the year? LOL
I totally agree OP.

I'm split on this. I mean if you move up and get a better job then eventually you'll be paying thousands and thousands in taxes. So getting back more than you put in NOW, is kinda like evening out for what you *might* pay in taxes later.
On the other hand, if you never have a big tax liability, then it isn't really fair.
But the real question is, when did anyone say that life would be fair?
and duh to your post :)

well, no duh.

Life isn't fair..

No one should receive back more than they paid in. Period. That is ridiculous.
sure does, when the the ones *I KNOW* blow it all and complain about not being able to pay their bills later.

If you understand how the tax system and economy worked, you would understand that giving low income people refundable tax credits not only helps them, but helps the economy as well.
Agreed.
