okay...so my sister in law (hubbys sister) is 19.  she is currently unemployed, and going to college.  she is tryin to find a job, but not having much luck.

well...we were all out to eat tonight, and she said she would come to our house and clean/organize and wash dishes...for 50 cents an hour!!  i think thats one hell of a deal, especially considering that since i've become pregnant, washing the dishes makes me want to throw up.  and i am high risk so i am supposed to be taking it easy, and wont be able to clean for much longer. (and our house is pretty unorganized lol)  she loves to organize stuff...its her thing.

and she also offered to come help me after the baby is born, for free until i get my strength back. (which will be nice, because our kitchen and stuff is all downstairs, and our only bathroom is upstairs, so its gonna suck and i'm gonna need help, especialy with a 3 year old running around.)

so...what do you think??

(i will add a poll...but please respond as well as to what you think, any suggestions for changes or anything...and what we should put on our "contract" for her)

Since you are high risk I think you should offer to pay her whatever you can afford to come and do some cleaning and help get the house ready for the baby (organizing). I would also suggest to her that she offer her organizational skills for hire on craigslist.

I think something like this is at least worth 2-3 bucks an hour. How long will it take her?  If it's a certain amount of work each day/week, you could set a certain amount (like 15-20 bucks for the week).  Fifty cents an hour would really be taking advantage of her.

She was probably being sarcastic. I bet if you called her and offered her 50cents an hr she would turn you down or work for a few days and then quit. Pay her min wage 7.25/hr.

lol...i thought it was kinda ridiculous that she offered to do it for 50 cents a hour...but you know how long it would take to make anything lol.  she said "since you're family" lol.  she is looking into getting a cleaning job a hotel around here..so its obviously something she wants to do...

That is very generous of her to charge so little.  I'm actually shocked.  I'm a housekeeper for a company and we charge $48 an hour.  I'm getting ready to go on my own and my price will be $25 an hour.

Honestly, if you can afford to, I would at least give her min. wage.

I would think around at least $5/hr would be okay.

I know she said she would do it for $0.50 an hour...come on you really cant hire her for that much!!!  She could do better at Mcdonalds or Walmart or something of the sort!  That would just be degrading to be paid 50 cents!  I'd ask her how much her min. is then go from there.  If she still insists on 50 cents, I would tell her something like you will only pay her a min of $4.00 or something.  Im just thinking that she just said that because she may have been afraid to tell you how much she really would like to be paid
