I am sure there are some high risk but it seems so abundant now. Do you think woman milk pregnancy so they don't have to do much? Is it all the chemicals in stuff now. What are your thoughts?

I think doctors are simply able to recognize more pregnancies as "high risk"...

I didnt know women claimed to have high risk pregnancies just so they "wont have to do much"...

I think some women lie. To be completely honest. If I can ever hold another pregnancy I would be considered high risk because I have had 5 miscarriages, but I know plenty of women who milk pregnancy for all they can which is sad. They have no idea what a gift it really is.

I agree. If we want to be lazy, can't we just use "pregnancy in general" as an excuse? LOL!!

Im not sure here...my midwife labeled me as "the low end of high risk" because my baby has a higher risk of birth defects. My fiance lost a baby that had down syndrome, and diabetes runs on both sides of my family, and lots of other stuff that i cant remember right now. I think it is used in some cases as a way to moniter closer for insurance purposes, but I dont consider myself high risk and still try to do everything i did before

I'm high risk due to pre-exsiting conditions and because I had preterm labor issues with my first pregnancy.

My epilepsy and heart condition didn't become a problem until after the birth of my first- her pregnancy was considered a normal one- other than HG.

But after her, the epilepsy and heart condition got worse and I was hospitalized for all that a week before conception with this baby- I haven't been able to stablize my conditions before pregnancy, so I'm high risk and need to be watched very closely.

I am still having seizures and heart condition related black outs

The thing is though I have had pre mature labor with 2 children and delivered 6 wks and 8 wks early. But with my last pregnancy I was not considered high risk.

I am just confused I guess.

I agree with this partially. I think altogether though its more of a combination of things, one being that yeah some women lie, the other being that more doctors are now able to recognize and label women as high risk because they are better educated.

I was considered high risk because I had gestational diabetes. I was told to take it easy and relax.

I would go out and walk like 5 miles or so and move things around the house and clean...Dh about had a heart attack every time I did anything like that...

He used to tell me, "you're pregnant, chill out" but I couldn't do it...plus, the walking was good for me and my gestational diabetes...exercise  helps it...

so, I think that doctors are better at spotting high risk pregnancies now like a PP said...but some people just milk it.

Yeah it's fine to be lazy while pregnant, but don't say you're high risk just to have the "excuse"
