I always wondered what other people did when they got married and had an engagement ring. At my wedding, I put my engagement ring on my right ring finger and after we were married and he put my wedding ring on my left ring finger I put my engagement ring on top. I asked later if this was the 'right' thing to do and my mom said "put your engagement ring on the top because that's what you got first."
I always take my rings off at night and if I'm not going anywhere I won't wear them because I always break out REALLY badly..we've gotten 2 sets of rings and I'm allergic to both white and yellow gold.
(If you don't have an engagement ring, this doesn't apply I guess.)

My sister in laws told me that the engagement ring goes on top because the happyness you had when you were engaged is what is holding your marriage together, and it is what came first, where it all started.
Your wedding band goes on 1st then your engagement ring because your marriage is closest to your heart. :)

but I wear my wedding band on the inside, followed by my engagement ring.

I wear my wedding band on bottom, engagement right on top. I just heard that's how you're "supposed" to do it....
They are welded togther now. It does not matter which one is on top.
