We are at Lawton/Fort Sill!  I am so sorry!  Could you go and stay with youre neighbors?  We live on base.  Are you on the waiting list?

I can tell you my husband would not send a soldier home because his wife is afraid. Lawton is not that big and is not nearly as scary as Ft Bragg and I spent a LOT of nights scared and alone.

I'm sorry about the attempted break in, but I do not think calling his CO is appropriate.

Thank goodness he is coming home!  On base housing here is very nice.  My husband is a sgt and we have three kids and have a 4 bedroom on base.  we live in the new housing.  the old housing as people move out they are redoing them.  I would def move if you do not feel safe, you could look into housing, they could probaly get you in pretty fast even though there is a waiting list.  you could be able to break youre lease sine it doesnt seem to be safe there.  just saying.  How is youre dd doing at school?

I think it is appropriate Lawton has become very dangerous.  There are break ins and all that stuff.  Heck there have been a few murders in the past couple months.  I lived here when I was younger and it has changed quite a bit.

I'm sorry that your stationed in Lawton. :( I grew up there. It has def. changed since I was a kid. I hope you get something figured out. Would your landlord let you get a security system installed? When we moved from Altus, OK to Tacoma,WA we installed a security system because SO was gone a lot & after we bought our house we found out it wasnt the safest area. Good luck.

oh please they wont even put up flood lights or security lights unless we pay out of pocket for them and we are renting and want to move when our lease is up so what makes them think we are gonna pay to have lights put up when technically they can be held liable for that and im gonna hold them responsible for it we dont have any lights out back what so ever

Didn't you call and do internet research to see what areas were the safest?  The newspaper even shows you what areas are the safest to the most dangerous.  If you don't like where you live and are looking for someone to steer you right, Go to Rose Larson, she was our realtor.  Before moving here, I emailed her with several questions about areas to live, traffic, schools, prices of homes, told her what price range I needed and that I needed a home close the the school my kids would be attending.  Rose you can trust to place you in the best areas to live.  Lets hope there is a military clause in your renters agreement, then maybe possibly you can get out of it.  I would certainly put up security lights, if they wouldn't allow me to put in a house alarm, I wouldn't care whether the landlord paid for it or I did.  Safety First for my family. I wouldn't call your chain of command too often, but I would certainly work on getting out of the area you live in.  Call Rose Larson.
