If you KNOW someone has lied to you...just a "white lie" so you don't get pissed...does it hurt more than if they just would have told you the truth?

I'm in an awkward situation...I know that my ex (someone that I love...still...after everything!!) lied to me last night.  We just recently started talking again and I KNOW he was at another girl's house (they claim only friends!!) on Friday night and he came and stayed with me on Saturday night.  Like I said, we just started talking again and were having some drinks (kiddo was gone for the night!!) and he stayed since I didn't want him driving after drinking.  Conversation led to Friday night and he lied to me!!  Or at least did not tell the truth!!  A friend had driven by on her way to breakfast Sat. morning and saw his truck at his "friend's" house...then when I tried to call him on it Sat. night, he told me he had been up since 5 am and out hunting since 7am.  This is a total lie since friend saw his truck at her house at almost 7 am!!  WTF??

I'm just questioning...forget the lie to me or really confront it?  No, him and I are not together right now, but he is the only guy I have EVER loved in my life and we have just started talking again after 3 months of not talking.  I am pretty sure nothing is going on with him and this other girl, but he still lied!!  Or failed to really tell the WHOLE truth!!

So, what hurts worse...to know the truth or to know when someone is lying to you (whether to spare your feelings or not!)??

hmmm..if he did it in order to spare my feelings, i wouldnt feel bad...if he did it trying to be sneaky, i would be...i would have just said that ____ saw your truck this morning, and see how he would have reacted

If nothing was going on he should of told you the truth. Big red flag already.....

*edit* I'd mush rather know the truth no matter how bad it hurts.

If omitting the WHOLE truth is a lie, than you are lying to him by not telling him what you know.

I didn't answer the poll because the answers seem to be saying the same thing....unless I['m just reading them wrong.

Anyway-I hate being lied to more than anything. Even the small white lies get to me. I would much rather hear the truth, no matter how much it hurts.

Since you guys aren't together, you really can't get mad that he was at some other girl's house. But, if it were me, I would mention it and just let him know that you don't appreciate being lied to. Don't be confrontational or anything--just be like "look, I heard you were at so-and-so's house, but you told me you were hunting. I don't care that you were at her house, but I don't want you to lie to me..." or something like that.

I understand what you are saying...but I wanted to see what he would say when I asked what he did Friday night.  He was the one who told me that he didn't "do" anything and was up at 5am making breakfast for himself on Sat. morning.  I just let it go cuz I didn't want to cause a fight since he was in no shape to drive and he would have tried to leave!

I'm just asking if you would rather be told the truth even if it hurts your feeling or if you would rather be lied to...

I just hate being lied to too...I just wanted to know how others felt!

It's not about me being mad he was at her house...it's the fact that he felt the need to tell a lie about it.  Then it makes my chick mind question everything that's going on!!
