So I Guess Now I'm A bad Parent For Not Getting on Assistance?
Yep I was told I was a bad parent for not getting on WIC. We qualify, but honestly we don't need it. However I was informed I am a bad parent for not wanting to give my boys the best start. Huh? I bf the baby and we have no problem affording groceries. We eat very well and very healthy. So in turn my youngest ds is getting very healthy breast milk and I am going to make him baby food when he is ready for it. All the WIC offices around here push formula hardcore and we don't need the help. I am all for people getting assistance that need the help but us getting on it seems very wasteful. I just can not believe that people think this way, that not getting assistance makes me a bad parent! Ok vent over, I just had to get that one off my chest!
Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night nor fear of being in public ,shall interfer with my appointed duty to breastfeed my child!
I have it for my DD although we don't really need it now. And with the new system I am able to only use the things we need from the "shopping list". I am now pregnant and when talking with a nurse or someone can't remember who it was, they asked if I knew about the program and if I was going to sign up. When I told her I do recieve it for DD but I would not be adding myself to the program she looked at me like I was weird. lol oh well.
I qualified for WIC with my daughter but, they wouldn't let me get the formula I wanted. There was only one that I could find that kept her spitting up/projectile vomiting to a minimum and it wasn't on their list. Sorry, how can your formula be better if she can't keep it down?
And the appts. UGH...waiting around all day while the mamas let their kids run wild in the waiting room...Im sorry, not for me. I wasn't dependent upon it, I could do without myself in order to provide what my daughter needed. So, I only used it for maybe a month.
And I guess Im a bad mama too-cause I never actually sat down and measured out her food like they expected you too. Yeah, I gave her 7/8 of a teaspoon of syrup on her 1/4 cup size pancake. Do people actually measure everything????
That is about the weirdest thing for someone to say..geez ya think that they would praise you .More power to you that you and family are doing well..
Thats the oppisite over here they try to talk you into bf not ff, but either way they have no right calling you a bad parent
I was told I was a bad mom because we qualify for WIC but I want get on it. We don't need the help, I would rather not use it because other people actually need the assistance.

Exactly! Why would you ever get it if you didn't need it? Plenty of people technically qualify for WIC and they don't even know it. They've never looked into it because they don't need it.
I think that what you are doing is right. If you don't think you need it then why would you get on it? Geez people are stupid! Keep doing what you're doing momma!
I qualify for WIC but dont bother to get it. Even though thats the only thing i qualify for it seems to be too much a hassel to get to the appts because i work fulltime, and just dont have time to deal with it.
