DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities in Forsyth and Davie counties were searching Monday morning for a man suspected of kidnapping a 2-month-old child from her Conover, N.C. home Sunday.
Deputies were searching an area off Interstate 40 near Lewisville-Clemmons Road for Saturnino Ortega-Vidal.
An employee at the Holiday Inn Express in Clemmons said Ortega-Vidal approached him in the parking lot and asked for a ride to Greensboro.
The employee, who said he was suspicious, called 911. When officers arrived at the hotel, the employee said, Ortega-Vidal ran into the woods and hasn't been seen since.
An Amber Alert for Catalin Hoard was canceled after authorities in Davie County found her early Monday morning following a vehicle chase.
Davie County deputies pulled over the car carrying Hoard along Highway 158 near the Forsyth-Davie County line at about 12:50 a.m. Monday.
Deputies said Ortega-Vidal, who was driving the vehicle, jumped from the vehicle and ran into the woods.
Police K-9s tracked him to Tanglewood Park, but could not find him. Authorities said they called off the search at about 6:30 a.m. but resumed later in the morning.
Catalin Hoard was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for a checkup as a precaution, but was in otherwise good condition. No details surrounding her abduction were released.
Authorities asked that anyone with information about Ortega-Vidal's whereabouts call 911. Related Information:
