Ok so I am not overly religious but I do have my beliefs but I do have a question that I can not seem to get a straight answer on from any one and who better to ask then all of you here on CM??? LOL
Question...
So the Bible is the word of God given to US by his "deciples?"
OK I get that but if "In the begining He made the heaven and the earth... so on and so forth Then He rested" and acording to the time line, as I see it, in the Bible- the Bible should be roughly 4-5,000 years old (if you add BC and AD) BUT I send my children to school and they teach them about the dinosaurs and the planets etc. Which they say are millions/billions of years old??? How does that work? I am just wondering if anyone can explain this to me? I am not looking to get bashed, it is just a simple question and I thought maybe someone on here might have a suitable answer. Thanks ladies!

Good question.....
I know huh? Our school allows a Bible study B4 school and my kids love it. Like I said I am not overly religous and want my kids to choose for them selves instead of being pushed into a religion. But I thought it was a relevant question since they are learning both @ school. ????

When the Earth was created there was "stuff" already there. Fossils could have come from that. Personally I choose to believe that the creation did not take what we would call a "day" (as in 24 hours). How do any of us here on earth know what a day is to God? A being who has always been and always will be? Also There is no mention in the Bible off what the world was doing while Adam and Eve were in the Garden. Dinosaurs could have very well walked the earth during that time. I also believe in Evolution, and the Creation. Why is it so hard to believe that God "put everything into motion" so to speak? We also teach the God created "worlds without number". And that there are many more Earth like planets out there.

i asked this very same question a long time ago and i got an answer that pissed me off at the time lol, but kinda make sense now that i understand the purpose of religion... its a simple answer and your gonna hate it just like i did lol
Have Faith...

OK I can see that, but the age old question pops into mind...
God created all of, well everything... so who created him/her?

Well your not the only one with that question. You and my hubby could have an awesome discussion. He doesn't believe in God at all (which is fine, to each his own) and if not for our kids would not celebrate any holiday having to do with God or Jesus. He has tons of questions about the Bible that no one (not even my stepdads dad who has read the Bible everyday of his life) can answer. He constantly gets into "discussions" with the people he works with about it and they usually get angry with him because his questions make sense and they don't have an answer for it (not that it matters he's their group leader, not much their gonna really say lol).

No one. God has always just been. He has created worlds before ours, and will create worlds after ours has passed away. Some things we just are not capable of understanding. I take comfort in knowing that one day I will know. Till then, like a PP said, I just have faith.

You know what? I got the same answer from a pastor when I was a kid, and then got black sheeped so to say the rest of the time I went to that church. (dirty looks, comments, etc.) The worst was when an older man asked me why a kid was asking such grown up questions? Man I was pissed!!!

As the person before me said I belive that Gods day is not 24 hours. Some people take the bible so literally and that is not how it is ment to be. They also say that people lived for hundreds of years. But their years may hae been based off of the moon cycle or something like that.
