We had an appointment to go get the second H1N1 for my kids today...well the office just called to say they don't have any and have no idea when they'll get them in. WTF?? they know they have to administer a second one, why not hold it?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they at least got the first one since they are not high risk and many people can't even get that one....it's just aggrevating that the drs office can be that irresponsible!

Do you realize what the demand are for these right now and they don't give DR very many.

There's no way to hold them, especially if it is a large practice.

The peds office I use to work at was huge...if we held vaccines for the second shot for every patient we would have never been able to administer any.

Especially when the flow of vaccines from the drug companies is unpredictable and limited.

My pedi has those...she ran out of regular flu shots though.  My kids aren't getting either so it doesn't affect them

I don't think its that irresponsible.  They probably didn't realize that once they got the first shipment it was going to be an issue getting any more.

How does a national shortage make the Dr stupid and irresponsible?

yeah yeah yeah....I still want to pout.

What really gets me is that the school was offering the shot, but you had to return the paper by the beginning of November. So I called the Drs office...spoke TO my dr...and asked him if we should get our second shot that way. He told me he didn't for see him not having the second shot for my children and he would rather administer it. So now Im SOL for that one too.

I guess that with that conversation I just assumed he would be holding them some.

Were not getting ours anyway, I WAS going to but my kiddos already had the junk and I really see no need in getting them the shot for something they already had KWIM.. GL though and I was livid when they cancelled the vaccine site they were GOING to have here BEFORE my kids came down w/ the crap. So needless to say there really was no hope, I can't stick them in a bubble. All you can do is tell them to wash there hands and hope for the best. At least they are SEMI vaccinated and that's better than NOTHING!!

My daughter isn't getting it (as advised by her Dr. - believe it or not).  I was told by a friend who works for a family practice Dr. that her office was told they would be getting additional supplies of the vaccine, but then were told later that they weren't available.

I wouldn't blame the Dr. - it seems as though they have been misled a bit in the availability of the vaccine.
