Flea's.. I am so frustrated!

I had a post last week about fleas, I got good advise. We had the house sprayed last thrusday, we treated the cat with a pill from the vet. that he had to eat and we had to bathe him afterwards and put frontline on. After I was able to get back in the house after the spraying I vacuumed everything in the house, I think I vacuumed about 4 to 5 hours. Since than we have vacuumed the house every single day! Today I was sitting in my living room and what do I see, I living adult flea on the floor. I was able to smash it, it wasn't jumping or anything but it was alive. Does that mean the spray did not work? Also the cat is still scratching himself a lot, my dh things it's because the bites may still itch him but I am so paranoid by now I think he still has them. We never had fleas before, so is this normal that he is still itching without him having them. And did the spray not work or is it normal to see them here and there until they are all dead? I am so frustrated, I hate bugs.

The cat may not have fleas anymore but if he had gotten eaten up by the flea the itch factor is still there.  You might want to call the vet and see if you can get some Prednisone for it. That will help. He could also still be reacting to the bite because he is allergic to the flea bites.  If that is the case i would recommend that you keep him on frontline or whatever year round to stop the cycle from even starting.  I prefer advantage for flea allergic animals i found that is does a better job on fleas though Frontline is still good.

If you had a heavy infestation of fleas it will take some time to get rid of them all just keep up with what you are doing and continue using the frontline.  You sound like me when it comes to fleas. I work at a vet and see some pretty nasty things sometimes but fleas effect me the most. If i am holding an animal that has fleas i start feeling itchy and and get the sudden urge to take a shower.

I hear ya, i am so freaked out I am ready to throw everything away including the cat LOL..I read that salt is effective just takes longer. I think you need to rub it into the carpet. I haven't tried it because large parts of our house are old wooden floors and I don't know about putting the salt down on the wooden floors and walking through it everyday...

You should salt the carpets.  One box per room.  The fleas eat the salt and it instantly dyhydrates them and they die.  You will have to do it a few times after you notice fleas back on your cat, but they will all die.

Your suppose to leave the salt on a few hours up to 24 then vaccum.  Ill find the link.

Usually, a bad infestation is when you have so many of them that you are getting bitten or the animal is in need of a blood transfusion.  Fleas prefer animals because of the higher temp.  You still could have or had a a lot but it could be a whole lot worse.

I Would hope that all that killed them. However you know you have to go back and do it again to kill and left larvae. IT Is also possible that the med. dried out the pets skin and that could be why he is itchy! GOOD luck. I Had them for the first time this summer. IT sucked. BUT they went away. I Kept the animals in the basement. AND did it that way. Cruel huh? Nope my kids come first. It got cold down there and the fleas stayed on the cats and then i double treated them.
