EDIT** so we went to H&R Block for our taxes and i need a new place.  where do you go to get yours done? we are in cali if that helps

so my husbands stepmom had done our taxes in the end of feb. she put married but separate. i found that out 2 weeks later when i went to do mine and we had to do an amended tax form which would take up to 8weeks. well then it turns out they changed it and it can take up to 16 weeks. so a month ago i finally got a hold of someone at the IRS who said well even if it takes 16weeks you should have got them 4 months ago at the latest. so anyway she said that the IRS put a hold on our taxes but she said there was no reason why she looked it over and it looks like just a freak accident and so she was releasing them and we would get them back with in a month. well my mom just called me and told me that the check came and asked me how much i was getting. well i told her thinking they didnt give us as much but our check was around 100 more than what we were told (lol maybe for not giving us our money on time and keeping it for 5 months longer?) so im so happy. now i can pay off outr old bills and buy a new mattress for the bunk bed i just bought. plus we can do something nice for Christmas. im so excited to not be behind on our bills now.

We filed with a  honorable tax service, and recieved ours 5 months late too! The tax payer advocate service told us someone must have accidently filed under one of ours (my husbands or mine) social security number. Ugh what a pain!

H&R Block has some of the most incompetent people...plus they rob you blind. I would never go there.

I can't use those places due to how we file, we use a accountant, but my sister uses taxslayer or slayertax or something. Its online, pretty accurate and free for her since her DH is navy.
