Police: Facebook site may have led to beating of 12-year-old

- 12-year-old boy beaten by classmates in two separate incidents on Friday
- Attacks may be linked to Facebook posting encouraging kids to target redheads
- Boy at middle school in Calabasas, California, was not injured seriously
Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- The beating of 12-year-old boy by a group of classmates at a Southern California middle school may be linked to a Facebook posting encouraging kids to target redheads, authorities say.
The redheaded boy was beaten up by a group of seventh and eighth graders at A.E. Wright Middle School in Calabasas in two separate incidents Friday, according to a statement released Sunday by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
A Facebook page stating that Friday was "Kick a Ginger Day," referring to redheads and possibly inspired by an episode of the "South Park" series, may have sparked the injuries at the middle school, authorities said.
The boy's injuries were not serious, and no one has been arrested, authorities said Sunday.
Sounds like parents are slacking....
I'm a 20 year old, spoiling my daughter with love, Small town living, walmart shopping, research b4 vaxing, fuel efficient car driving, anti-fast food & soda, chasing my toddler instead leashing her, giving her carrots instead of cookies, former varsity athlete, making my husbands dinner every night from scratch,Vampire book collecting, Fairy Tale Loving, Camping & canoeing, Atheist Mom, who loves my family more than anything in the world.
& I beat the Monster aka Smoking addiction...

Sorry but facebook didn't have anything to do with that. The kids should have known better then to beat someone up!
I agree. And why blame facebook? They have nothing to do with what is posted. They can't monitor every single post made by everyone. There are millions of posts a day. I think the parents of those kids are partially to blame for not teaching their kids better.

wow thats sad BUT at they age you know right from wrong and if they have problems then maybe the parents should have raised their children better. i mean just cuz a status says that it doesnt mean they need to
need to place blame where blame belongs... not on facebook.
one.... the kids, they are old enough to know right from wrong.
two.. the parents.. because had they been holding their children responsible for all of their actions.. from a young age, those kids would not have pulled such a stunt. if mom was a "i'll bury my foot in your ass" type of mom.. those kids would not have DARED.
and.... if one of my kids EVER pulled such a stunt, i would make sure they WERE CHARGED WITH ASSUALT. because i hold my kids responsibile for their actions

That's crazy. But kids should know right from wrong at that age. It's not FB or South Parks' fault. It's poor parenting.
LOL !!
That's the kind of mom I plan to be when DD is old enough.. She's only 2 now.. but one day she'll look like the kid in your siggy!
