i usually buy a box , but i want to stuff my turkey this year ... any tips?
This is the one I make
Apple-Bread Stuffing
· 1 loaf sturdy white bread (like bakery bread)
· 1 medium onion
· 2 apples
· 1 tsp dried thyme
· 1 stick butter melted
· salt and pepper to taste
· 1/2 cup chicken broth
· Open bread two days in advance and let sit on counter and get stale. (sounds yummy so far huh, LOL)
· Once bread s nice and stale, cut it into 1 inch cubes and put in a large bowl.
· Cube the onion into large chunks. Add to bread in bowl.
· Peel and core apples and cut into 1/2 inch cubes. Add to bread and onion.
· Add the thyme and mix with your hands, don't over mix.
· Drizzle half the butter over the mixture and mix with hands.
· Now drizzle the rest of the butter over it and mix again.
· Add salt and pepper to taste.
· Now drizzle chicken broth over the mixture and mix it with your hands as you go to evenly cover the mixture without making it mushy in one place. Put inside the turkey, don't over fill. To keep stuffing in the turkey while it roasts, use the heel of the bread and wedge it into the turkey's opening to hold the stuffing in place. Fill the neck opening also and close it however you prefer to
