OMG! SIL and her pregnancy! update

My sil turned 36 weeks yesterday.  She is only 5 foot 5 and my rother is 6 foot 5.  he was 9 pounds when he was born.  well she had an appt today and the doc was like well I can feel his head (through cervix) and his butt is up here up under the ribs.  She said she has been measuring big for a little it now and that they are concerned her baby is going to be really big.  she is in an u/s finding out what they are estimatinghis weight to be.  I know u/s can be off by two pounds, but from my experiance they were only off y ounces with my twins.I guess we will see.  Has anyone gone though this?

I didnt mean to give the impression that they would do a c section.  Sorry about that, she wants to have a natural delivery.  well the u/s showed that he is only 6 pounds 3 ounces at the moment so no need to worry.  I think she is relieved.

our second.. was measuring by u/s a pound heavier . she was 7lbs+  so i guess it could go either way..

No my OB saw no need to do any extra measurements because I had no problems with delivery.  Well my last one was 9 pounds 1 ounce and I did not have gestational diabetes.  I had a second degree tear but no problems delivering him.  If I were her I would make them wait to induce until I was full term and my cervix started to change.  If the baby is truly to big to fit she will get a c section.  At least she will have a shot though.  If they induce her before her body is ready she has a much greater chance of having a c section.  Of course that depends on how she feels about c sections in the first place.

She will also measure big if her uterus is tilted. Mine is tilted up, way up, and I was always measuring almost 2 weeks further along than I was. I looked 8 months pregnant at 4 1/2 months. That's a possibility. My son was good size, I was induced at 39 weeks thinking he was nearly 10.5 pounds and he was only 8.7 pounds. Still big, but not bad. There are several reasons for measuring big.

DS was 10 lbs 2 oz and 24 in long. I would ask my doc how big he was and he would always dodge the question. Now I know why!

I don't see why she'd have a problem delivering a large baby. That's just IMO there might be other difficulties we don't know about. I don't trust ultrasound weights at all, they were off by 3.5 pounds with my son so, I don't think anything about them.

i didn't have this issue, so i don't really know how accurate u/s are at guessing weight.  i'm 5'9" and my husband is around 6'1".  my son was 3 weeks early and very little (5.5 lbs, 19").  i hope your SIL gets some good news and the rest of her pregnancy goes as well as possible.
