I think I have the worst case worker ever!

We need food stamps. We went down to the welfare office on Tuesday and since there is already a case open for the baby's insurance the guy told us we had to see the lady that already had our stuff. So we went back Wed. with the food stamps book all filled out and saw the lady. She was a total bitch. She got an attitude with us because we didn't have an apointment. DF told her that we have been trying to call and she never answers or calls back. She got over it and said that she was really busy and she already had vacation scheduled for this week but she wanted to have the food stamps for us before thanksgiving so she would have it done Thurs. or today(monday). No call thursday, she is off Friday and we were expecting her to call today. No call, I have been trying to call her all day, she won't answer the phone and her voice mail is full so I can't even leave a message. I called and got her supervisor's number and left a message.... no call back. It is 5pm and they are closed now so I guess I'm not getting anything today.

I'm just pissed off. I may sound ungrateful, because I'm lucky to get anything at all, but there is more to the story than just this.

This may sound bad but sometimes you need to scream and yell and say things unbecoming. When my daughter went in the hospital I lost my job so I had to go back on fs when she got home. Well My fridge was litteraly empty like I had just bought it. They took my application and sid they would put me in or emergency food stamps but to no avail I got no cal back so two days later I called the supervior and left a nasty message pulling the race card. I recieved a phone call 2 minuts later and had my food stamps in two days.

I am sure this will get me bashed but really I do not care. When you come whith a child that almost just died and is on home health care some times it is better to role with you emotions because they are not easily contained. However I would never do that now as I am not proud of the fact it was done to begin with however my point is some times you need to push a little harder and not care about what people will think.

I'm not saying this as a racist remark( because I'm not) but what color is your caseworker?? Ive noticed that 80% of the time they are mean and ignore the oppisite race.

Sadly everything they do is at their lesiure. You are at their mercy.

Just keep calling. And calling. Call the supervisor and her line until something moves along.

I dealt with this; they are like this with everyone, ignorant, like most caseworkers.  Call the front desk and ask for your caseworker supervisor number and then tell them your situation.  I did this twice before and my caseworker call me back the same day!! No one likes their boss on their ass..

I know it sucks that you are having to wait, but please also understand the side of the caseworker.  She more than likely has well over 200 clients.  There is no way in the world that she can call everyone back or answer her phone every time it rings.

I work in human services myself and can tell you there are days when I do not answer my phone or I would get nothing accomplished.  Yes in your life this is an emergency, but it also is to the other 200 people who came before you.  You are actually lucky that she saw you without an appointment.

Do you have a reason why her voice mail is full? Even if she is SOO busy she could at least listen to my message tomorrow if I had been able to leave one.

How long can you go before actually calling someone back ? It may be different here in Canada, but here....a case worker has to call someone back within the next business day. And im sorry but food vouchers are a bit important, especially when you have children. She should have been loyal to her word and what she had said to the OP.

OMG we have to have the same worker. We moved and lost our 6month review. So I called and left a message. Also to report our move. Never got a call back. Called a few more times. No reply. Called her super, no reply. Then I get a letter stating that we are getting cut off. Call her AGAIN still nothing back from her. And sure as anything she cut us off. I still can't get her to answer my calls. We need the help. My husband is unemployed and I don't get paid a lot at my job. Tomorrow I am going down to request a different worker. Mine is lousy.
