I have been asking my daughter (7 years old) for about a week now to clean her room! We pressed it on Saturday, we pressed it on Sunday...and then tonight i have asked her again and she is just sitting in there playing!.

In the past i have given her warnings that i will pick up her toys for her, HOWEVER her toys will be locked away and she wont get them at all.

The last time i cleaned her room, i told her that she wasnt getting her computer hooked up until she started cleaning up after herself...that was 2 months ago, the computer is still not hooked up.

But mind you, she has her tv in there ....and she plays on the video games out here in the living room, so i have had it.

I am tired of fighting with her, i clean up after her around the rest of the apartment im not doing it with her room!. And yes i have told her...if you dont clean it, I will! (and she KNOWS what that means).

So tomorrow while she is at school i am picking up her room, and putting the toys in her cuboard along with her TV. She will be grounded from these things (plus the video games) and MY TV for a week.

Yep im THAT mom....man, im gonna hear about it tomorrow lol

*UPDATE* Well i wrote this post what 45 minutes ago ? And that was the last time i asked her to clean her room, i guess she figured that three days of me constantly asking her was enough lol....because she is in there, cleaning it ...heck she even made the bed! LOL

good for you...i revoke priviledges and possessions too...my son is usually pretty good about putting his toys aways and keeping his room clean...now that i think about it, it has been months since i have had to revoke anything...hhhmmmm????

Lol!  That's great!  I need to do this myself with my daughter.  She refuses to clean her room!  I have had it.  The only problem is the last time I took all her toys and put them in a garbage bag, she did not care.

Stick to your guns, mama. It's the only way it worked with my oldest daughter, too.

I am that mom and my DD is only 3. SHe has to clean her room or she does not get them back until she shows she can treat them right. She has a DVD player that she can watch in her room on weekends and when she is not respectful of that(she like to play frisbee with the dvd's) then she looses it for the rest of the weekend. She will learn at a yound age that what mom and dad says goes!

LOL I am that mom everyday.  Kids know that if you leave your stuff out in the living room (or any common room) or my room after bedtime it will go away (1 day for each year of age).  Their rooms are expected to be picked up before they leave for school each day or by 9am on week-ends otherwise the same thing will happen.
