What was your financial standing at the time of your abuse?  This is for my research project at school, and any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a good way to isolate you from the world.  Look up Intimate Terrorism, and see if that fits what you experienced.

Google "Intimate Terrorism".  It may sound horrifyingly familiar to you.

I would suspect most victims dont work. It's a form of empowerment, something the perp fears.

From what I understand, largely, that's the case with Intimate Terrorism.  Situational Couple Violence doesn't seem to follow this pattern, though, considering that there's no need for control.
