I would have been happy with a plain silver band. Because it would have came from the man of my dreams. BUT he was happy about the ring he bought me and i love it!

engagement ring first, and then our wedding bands

story of our engagement, we had dated already for 5 years and knew we would get engaged and married someday...when he had the money for a ring he said (even tho i said i didn't need one). well he was going out of town for work and wanted his cousin to come with. i didn't want his cousin to go because his cousin is addicted to gambling and i believed that was his only reason for wanting to go, and we only had $100 left to our names for the next month. well i was right. they got there and his cousin convinced him to use his last 100 to enter a poker tournament, well DH got 2nd place...and won $5,000. so he called his sister and had her help him pick out a ring :) he came home and we went on a walk with my dog to the park by the lake. he fell behind (my dog was taking off) and when i turned around he was kneeling. he said "Rachel, will you marry me someday" and opened an empty ring box lol. i said yes of course and hugged him, when i pulled away from the hug he said "will today be that day" and opened a different box and had my ring in it! it was too cute!

Crappy camera phone, my third finger looks huge, lol. I love my ring, princess cut, just like I wanted. SO and I got engaged on August 26, 2009 and we are getting married on June 18, 2010. He proposed had been planning to propose on August 25th, but then my grandmother ended up passing away on that day and he didn't want to disrespect her memory so he waited until 12:15 so that it wouldn't be on the same day as her death.

I felt so bad because afterwords he said he planned on doing it the morning of the 25th, then my dad called and said my grandma was in the hospital so he waited and was going to do it that afternoon, then my dad called and said e wouldn't make it through the day so he was going to wait till that night, then he called and said she had passed so he decided to wait till after midnight.
