Help my son is stuffed up and can't go to sleep...***edit***

His little nose has been stuffed up for the last two hours... I tried to use Baby Saline and the nose squeegy (sp?) but it's not working and he can't go to sleep (he's 2 yrs old).  He's sitting here watching Nick JR and keeps trying to go to sleep but he feels like he can't breathe and is saying "stuck" "nose"... he keeps trying to blow his nose out and picking at it too.  I don't know what else to do to help him, he's sooo tired.

***Thanks so much everyone for your replies, he is asleep now but some of you reminded me that I do have some vicks babyrub, I forgot all about it, he crawled up here beside me on the couch and leaned against the arm rest and fell asleep, I guess the position of sitting up unstuffed him, I'm still going to put some baby rub on his chest though to help keep him opened up a little bit.  If he wakes up I'm going to take everyones advice, from the freezer trick to the steam and try to get him opened back up.  Oh and yes I do still breastfeed, I forgot as well about the breastmilk trick***

I never realized I could love someone so much.... that is until I looked into his eyes for the very first time!

Its late now but tomorrow...see if you can find some eucalyptus oil...place a few drops (5 or 6) around his crib near where his head goes...that will help him a lot

Are you sure he hasn't stuck anything up there?  It is pretty common at that age.

You could take him in the bathroom and run the shower hot and let the steam build up and let him breathe the steam for awhile to help break it up.

Roll up a towel or something and put it under the head of his mattress to prop him up a bit as he sleeps so he can breathe easier.

take him in the bathroom and let it steam up --just let him sit in there for a while.  Maybe read a book to him or something.  The steam will loosen the congestion and let it come out plus the heat will make him sleepy.

I see you're still nursing.  Next time he nurses, put a few drops of BM in each nostril.  It really helps.  Also, while nursing, put a little vicks vapo rub on your chest so that he can smell it and it helps clear him up..but it's not on him..know what i mean?

put some vicks vapor rub under his nose. just a dab and you can try sitting in a some steam run the shower the hottest you can and close the door. It should help clear him out

we are going through the same thing! my 2 year old daughter has had a stuffy/funny nose all day.  it gets stuffy at nap time and night time when she's ready to sleep. she says "nose not workin, mama" lol... i don't know what to do with my 2 year old because she is more difficult, but i am glad you posted this.  for my 1 year old who had this last week, we had to hold her in the shower (water pointing other direction) and turned the heat up to get some humidity and clear it up. and later used a humidifier  dr told us to open the freezer and holder her there so she'd breathe the cold air in and clear it out.  fortunately it was about 50 degrees outside and i just wrapped her up in a blanket and i walked around outside in our yard for 10 minutes then she slept on me upright and had no problem, it went away.  also i heard that putting vicks vapor rub on their feet and then socks on will keep them from coughing all night or not breathing right.

I know it sounds weird, but vicks on the bottom of my children's feet really cleared them up.

Do you have a cold mist humidifier?  if not  get one! LOL they're great!    My DD   was sick all last week and that helped her sooo much!   Even though i hardly slept for 2 nights straight   bc she was up coughing   but with the stuffiness the humidfier helped.
