I;m having sort of an issue. We have money saved up for xmas...and wanted to put it on a gift card  so that we wouldn't have to carry cash.

but...does anyone know if you can get a gift card for higher then $500? If so..where do I go?

A gift card for you, or one to give somoone else? If it's for you, to spend your money with...try a NetSpend card. It's a prepaid debit card.

The best thing to do is get one of the Visa Gift cards. You can put up to $1000 on it and they can be used anywhere Visa is accepted. You can get them at any bank.

Go through your bank.  A lot of banks sell prepaid bank cards and I don't think there's a limit.

Where have you seen them for $1000? I went to the grocery store and they had them as high as $250. Went to the visa site and they had them for $500.

What I really want it $2000...but I will do 2/$1000 if I have too.

Check your credit union.  That's what we have and we've bought them from there before.

Have you thought about Traveler's Checks?  You can get them through your bank and of they are lost or stolen they are protected.  I am not so sure a prepaid gift card would offer the same protection.
