Racism and Illegal Immigration

I love watching the "What Would You Do" Primetime specials.  This video really got me because it shows the pain that prejudice can cause on people.  There are so many things going on in this video.  It shows how people assume all Hispanics are illegal.  It shows how people assume all Hispanics are Mexican.  It shows the prejudice that is exhibited against them just by how they look.

Watch this video all the way through.  If you don't feel sympathy for the man at the end, there is something wrong with you.

Nope, I dont feel bad for him. He should try to speak English while here, its his own fault. There were three actors in the video, I dont see this being a good source to show what happens. I am in Atlanta and have had to wait to get an Enlish translator (the manager) to order at Dunkins Donuts who barley spoke English himself and ended up leaving because he coulnd understand a camel mocha late' which we order all the time from there. Nope, dont feel sorry for him at all!

but at least they are trying.  I do believe anyone who comes here should speak english (huby and I argue aout that all the time, his mom doesnt speak english yet shes been here for 12 years)  but if the person is truly trying I cant see why people would give them a hard time?  (not saying you did)

Totally agreed and I would have probably ordered those guys some coffee but I don't feel bad for the guy crying at the end.

 Yep, people are bigots.

Land of the free- unless you're a freakin immigrant in which case you're dirt and don't deserve to live here.

my husband and I watched this when it was on tv a while back.  It actually made my husband cry because his father is an immigrant from Mexico who became a naturalized citized 10 years ago.  He had worked in the fields from the age of 7 and has a 2nd or 3rd grade education.  He still speaks with a heavy accent and is 65 years old.  Dh mom taught him english when she was helping his sister with her homework as a child.  They kinda learned together.  Since english is his second language, he speaks/understands/writes it fluently, but he still has an accent and is slower to understand some things.  I never understand people who lack basic compassion for others just because they are inconvenienced.
