My son will be 2 next month. He has been having the HARDEST time pooping... when he goes to poop he sits down and just screams... and 9 times out of 10 theres nothing after like 10 min of trying.... or its just a little fart. When he finally gets it out ( which can take days) its hard and is like clay.... He drinks TONS of water. I talked to the Dr and they said to uptake Fiber, and drink plenty of water .... well its not working .. they said try prunes that still doesnt work... well it does but then he gets bad Diarhea and then a REALLY bad diaper rash ( hes got sensitive skin) My step mom trys a baby laxitive not a full dose and that works sometimes not most....

ANY IDEAS LADIES?????????? hes soooooo miserable!!!!!!!!

TO answer some questions... no we have not been to a GI specialist... HE drinks Apple Juice a lot to so that doesnt help.... I will def try the suggestions given and hope something works...

I know this is TMI but he takes after his daddy... my MIL says my hubby had that prob when he was younger ...and even now everytime he cloggs the toliet cause its so big ( im sorry its gross i know) Lukas's prob happens every couple days but then hes fine and pooping normal for a couple weeks...its been going on and off for about 6 months and seems to be getting wrose... Im going to be calling the Ped for a referal if the other things dont work!

What about some probiotic yogurt?

We use chewable fiber tablets... I forget what they're called because we haven't had to use them in a while.. but they are orange (now they come in all flavors though) and I used to cut them in half and give them to my little ones. They never complained of the flavor or texture.. it's kind of like a vitamin c tab. Fiber One? Or Fiber Choice? I can't remember.. sorry!

I would watch the fiber intake. Too much can cause constipation, too much can cause diarrhea. It's a tricky little thing. Honestly, if nothing is helping I would ask for a referral to a GI Specialist to find out what else is going on.

I would aslo try a probiotic.

My DD takes a fiber gummy. (along with Benefiber in her milk) It's made by Pedialax.

Apple juice believe it or not runs through my fam.  I luv the poop topic lol.  My middle ds has sensitive skin as well.  So I can get the ped to prescribe me diaper rash formula that works well with him.  Try apple or orange juice.  If worse comes to worse call the ped!!  Maybe they can help prescribe a stool softner to where he's not straining as bad.

my dd suffered with severe constipation for about a year.  doc said to use miralax...tried it but it made her poop too watery.  so my sister said to try benefiber. I started putting about a 1/4 of a teaspoon in with some water, juice or milk once a day and she is regular now.  I also just upped fiberous foods (soluable fiber) ... like sunflower seeds, raisins, whole wheat grains, etc.

my dd had a bad poop experience and it caused her to begin holding her poop in ... vicious cycle let me tell you.  but now she goes once or twice a day!!  Good luck ... it is so hard to see your little one suffer :o(

watermelon... My friends daughter had a really hard time to the point where she would scream bloody murder and the doc tried presciptions, suppositories and all that and the only thing that worked was watermelon...

I always gave my son prune juice.. A quarter of juice and the rest watered down. Also, watch his diet. things that can cause constipation,,to much cheese..etc..Try apple  juice too.
