So DH and I watched the movie Food, INC. I suggest that all of you mothers watch this movie. We as mothers do every thing we can to ensure our children's health. Yet we are paying absolutely no attention to what is being done to and with our food. Its disgusting the legislation that has been allowed and what is being done to us and our children, through food. And I'm not talking about possible cancer causing agents here. I'm talking about the extreme rise in e-coli, the allowance of cloned food with out having to inform the consumer. The suing and shutting down of farmers for not using genetically modified seeds. We have got to do something to stand up to this ladies. Watch this movie, please.

I haven't seen it, but I plan to. Having not seen it and only heard about it, I have a question:
Do they offer a solution or some sort of alternative? Because the thought of watching a film that tells me that I am killing my kid but there is nothing I can do about it is just too depressing.
Really the only solution they offer for now is that we have got to pay attention and stand up to the government, meat packers, and Monsanto on these issues. There is one mother and her mom that are standing up against it profiled in the movie, but its going to take a lot more of us. They do offer the solution of buying local, and in season only.

I have seen movies like that before and I know what you are talking about. It is completely disgusting. I was a vegetarian for about 4 yrs, mainly because I was so grossed out and saddened by what animals go through before they reach our tables. Although I have to admit that I am now eating meat, I do not understand how people do not know or care where their food comes from and what happens to it before we buy it. I deffinitly need to give myself a wake up call about what I have been eating because my children eat that way too. I do try, as much as possible to give them healthy alternatives to junk food. I do not allow soda or fast food. I used to buy organic milk but we cannot afford it anymore as we have 3 milk drinkers in the house. I stay away from HFCS and preservatives as much as possible but again being able to afford the healthy stuff is not always possible. Sad thing is is that you cant even trust the fresh veggies and fruit we buy anymore. Who knows what was in the soil they were grown, how they were shipped and what happened to them on the way. It's enough to make you want to have your own farm and grow ALL your own food.
