Russian roulette

So my 17 year old cousin just told me about this song that all the high school kids are really into right now.  And she told me to go look it up on youtube.  I was just amazed that someone that has such a big influence on kids would make that song!  How many games out there that kids die from playing so you take a big artist that the teens are into and give her a song about russian roulette!! Here are the lyrics if you haven heard it.  Sorry this just makes me sick!

Take a breath, take it deep
Calm yourself, he says to me
If you play, you play for keeps
Take a gun, and count to three
I’m sweating now, moving slow
No time to think, my turn to go

[Chorus --
And you can see my heart beating
You can see it through my chest
And I’m terrified but I’m not leaving
Know that I must must pass this test
So just pull the trigger

Say a prayer to yourself
He says close your eyes
Sometimes it helps
And then I get a scary thought
That he’s here means he’s never lost

(Chorus)

As my life flashes before my eyes
I’m wondering will I ever see another sunrise?
So many won’t get the chance to say goodbye
But it’s too late too pick up the value of my life

(Chorus)

its a provocative song, but this WAS just after the man she loved beat her badly.
its not shocking that she put her feelings of hurt and confusion into her craft.

I haven't heard this, but just from reading the lyrics, it seems to be more about the struggles of growing up in poverty/gang infestation...comparing a difficult life to the game of RR. I'll bet the kids who can identify would get it.

Edit- okay, it's Rhianna....well, that couldn't be more self-explanatory then....it's an allegory for domestic abuse.

AND
i would like to say - there are like 100 songs out RIGHT NOW that are just as bad in the aspect that they glorify crime and drinking and violence and they degrade women and so on and so on.

I don't think she actually wrote that song...I might be wrong but I heard that Ne-yo wrote it.

But just because its about an abusive relationship or whatever it is does it make it right?   Would you like your teenager listening to this?

It doesn't matter what it is about- they shouldn't put songs like that for kids or teens to hear.
