We aren't going to make it through the Holidays...
My Fiance can't find a job in this crappy town. We are the highest unemployment CITY in the WORLD lol. THAT'S BAD! I don't have a job, I'm in college full time, when I'm not in class, I'm studying forever because I'm going into the medical field and there's SO MUCH to learn. I gave in and I've been trying to search for jobs but there's literally nothing around here...
I feel TERRIBLE...this is my son's first real Christmas to open presents and all that good stuff, and I can't afford a Christmas for him. I feel like the worlds most crappiest mom right now...
My little vent for the day...I'm just really stressed out, the closer the Holidays, the more depressed I get...

We are living on unemployment and FS. (Bash away, if that's what helps you sleep at night) We are awaiting his first unemployment check since we just had to file a new claim in Ohio because our unemployment claim in Pennsylvania has been exhausted. So, we're waiting on our first check from Ohio and it could be another 2 weeks. The only thing keeping us going right now is my mom and dad. If it weren't for them, my kids would have no Christmas this year.
I've been there. Once I was "homeless" living in a transitional living center for women with children, and my pre-k DD got a few presents from the dollar store. She was old enough to notice that there wasn't much, and certainly not anything she really wanted Santa to bring. I don't know, at least your's isn't old enough to feel bad, thinking that Santa didn't like him?
"Intelligence is like a river;
the deeper it is, the less noise it makes."
Go to local churches and the foodstamp office and apply for their programs, make something homemade for your kid, save up change and get a couple things at the dollar tree or a second hand store, make cookies, read christmas stories, sing carols on christmas morning....there is always something you can do. I've been poor as poor can be (still pretty damn poor) plenty of times and always managed somehow to give my kids a decent christmas.
Go to the dollar store and buy him a ball. Wrap that up. Go to a second hand store and get some board books, thoroughly disinfect them w/ clorox wipes. Wrap those up. THAT will be enough to keep a little guy his age happy! He won't remember the fact that the tree looked a little bare! We are struggling too this year (which is why I have been buying one present a month since May). It sucks big time! My dh was very poor growing up, and his favorite present that he remembers is a huge ball of rope! LOL. You don't have to have a lot of money to give your child a merry Christmas!

See if you can apply for Toys for Tots, check local grocery stores, churches, hospitals, etc. to see if you can be an "angel family." You can even check with your local radio and news stations. Also, you can get on wishuponahero.com and put in a wish for gifts for your son. You are not a crappy mom! Times are hard right now and not having enough money for Christmas does not make you any less of a mommy! Best Wishes!!

I agree. Don't stress yourself out, you son is still very young and won't remember. Maybe could you get just a couple of things from the dollar store to wrap and have him rip open? I'm so sorry that you are having a tough time.
Quoting BabyinAug08:
could you apply for toy assistance like toys for tots?
You can also contact your local fire departments. Some do things to help underprivilaged in their area. Good luck to you and your child. I like to buy Christmas presents. Email me your address and I could send him a couple of things!!! My ds LOVES to buy stuff for others and I put back a little extra this year!!!!!!
