BF question, looking for answers

I tried to BF with my son who is now almost a year, but I have flat/inverted nipples, and even with shields he would NOT take to me, I produced enough and was able to pump for 4 weeks, then I had some medical things come up.  I am also VERY large breasted.

My question is, I am currently preggo with another boy, I REALLY want to BF, but I dont know how to get it to work, I noticed even with a shield it was hard for my son to get enough of my areola for him to latch, my breast is just too large and nipples too flat.

I tried using a product called the nipplette, made by avent and Im sure it would have worked great, but Im already producing colostrum and it wont hold the suction for long because the fluid keeps releasing the pressure.

Talk to a lactation consultant, that is the best thing that I ever did. I have flat nipples and succesfully breastfed for 16 months. Talk to an LC get advice on latching which will help alot and stay connected with other nursing mommys, the la leche league is a great place to meet others.

I agree... talk to a LC, I have a 6 week old and have gotten great advice from the one I saw with issues I had with BF. Also there is a great Breastfeeding group on here that is very helpful called Breastfeeding Moms...

Breast SHELLS, never shields. You can start wearing them now. They help draw out the nipple.

Also, Lansinoh makes a genius device called a Latch Assist, which draws out the nipple.
