Im sure it will be written in the new warrenty when people buy it. Doubtful that Apple would be dumb enough not to specifically cite it. And Im sure if falls under something else in their warrenty.

I can just say HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I think it makes sense. My dad always told me that smoking around the computer is really bad. It can cause the filter for the dust to clog up faster than normal and that can cause fan malfunctions.

Not to mention what all the buildup from the smoke itself could do to the insides of a computer... I don't blame them for not wanting to replace electronics that are being damaged purposely by someone who bought it.

BUT SEE THEY CANT JUST TURN AROUND AND SAY THAT TO PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT A LAPTOP AND IT DOESNT SAY ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN THE WARRENTY PAPERS.

So stupid!  According to this article it has nothing to do with 'damaging' the equipment but their techs don't want to be exposed to the "toxins" - whatever...I hope their techs wear gas masks anytime they walk thru an underground parking garage; or subway terminal too -- morons.

Idon't think that they can just void warranties off computers that were already sold... however, smoke is bad for computers so I guess that's where they are coming from.  They are a company too and need to make their profit.  It's just like life insurance being hard to get for smokers!

I can totally see their reaoning behind it.  My hubby works on computers and he can tell as soon as he opens one up if someone has smoked around it.  That junk gums up all the parts and shortens the life of the computer.  A warranty wouldn't cover damage from someone spilling a drink all in it, it's the same thing really.

Once hubby bought a bunch of used laptops off ebay to repair and re-sell.  One of them came in smelling SO bad of cigarettes that he had to take it all apart and let it air out for days.

But that's not what the article says!  It says it is about exposing their employees to the "toxins"; ie: nicotine etc...

Again; I hope they're all wearing gas masks when outside cause they're breathing more pollution and toxins that way.  It's a scam to take people's money.

Smoking too much around any electrical equipment too much can damage it. Radio personalities are not allowed to smoke while they are in the studio because it damages equipment.

I doubt they will void warranties on already purchased computers.  I am sure this will only apply to brand new sales.  I say more power to them, as a private company they are allowed to put that into their warranties if they want to no matter the reason.
