I have made stuffing before and I forget all that I put in it. How much and all that. I searched Google and Cafemom and everyone that I found wasn't close to what I am looking for. I do NOT WANT any NUTS, MEAT, or FRUIT. Just basic.. traditional bread stuffing. If you make it like this please let me know how to make it. Thank you!
Ingredients
- 1/4 pound butter
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups chopped celery
- 9 cups soft bread cubes
- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup chicken stock
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Butter one 2 quart casserole dish.
- In a saute pan, cook onion and celery in butter until soft.
- In a mixing bowl, combine onion and celery, bread cubes, poultry seasonings, mushrooms, egg and stock. Mix well and add to casserole dish. Bake for 1 hour

Oh cook 2 onions and add half a thing of chicken broth, some salt, and some poulty seasoning to the bread crumbs.Add as much as you like.
i make this stuffing every year, and it comes out super good!, cut up celery and onion, saute it in butter, and then add to your bread cubes,( i use Mrs.cubbisons, from the box) then add the celery, onion to the cubes in a big bowl, and add a few cans of chicken broth to moisten it up,and it's ready to be stuffed in your turkey, and a seperate pan, sometimes i fry up some jimmie dean sage flavor sausage(the tube) and add that in as well, good luck!
My recipe serves 20, so take that into consideration:
2 loaves French bread, sliced
1 1/2 cups butter
2 onion, chopped
8 stalks celery, chopped
1 4oz can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 T plus 1tsp poultry seasoning
1/2 tsp sage
garlic powder to taste
salt and pepper to taste
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups turkey broth
Let the bread slices air dry for 2 hours, then cut into cubes
Melt butter over medium heat. Cook onion and celery until soft. Add mushrooms. Season with poultry seasoning, salt and pepper. Stir in bread cubes until evenly coated. Moisten with turkey broth (you may not want to use 2 cups, or you may want to use more than that, depending on how wet you like your stuffing). Add eggs. Mix well.
I always stuff my turkeys, but if you don't, then bake this in a buttered casserole dish at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
I now make this with apples, craisins, pecans, and sausage, but these are just additions to the basic recipe.
