My 3yr old Daughter Asia lost her very best friend.

her best friend Dukie- "her" pit bull. they were best friends. he always followed her around to make sure Asia was ok.Dukie even slept in Asias bedroom every night, and when she woke up in the middle of the night, Dukie was always there for her. shes now crying over it. any ideas on what i can say to her to help her ease the pain? she loved him like it was her own brother. please send your thoughts. he died of stomache bloat. and we just didnt have enough money for the surgery. Asia still thinks hes coming back even though hes dead. i told her the doctors put him to sleep. she keeps asking when hes going to wake up ):

it wont be the same without him.

aw, I'm so sorry :((

I dont know what we'll do when our dog is gone one day. Do you think you could get her a stuffed animal similar to him? Also maybe find a picture of both of them together and have it framed and hung above her bed?

Its better to say that he got very sick and the doctors and all the medicine in the world could not make him better rather than saying he was put to sleep.  Our cat just died Sunday and we had to explain it as she was passing to our boys.  They've never known life without her, but they have been ok.

Read this to her

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I have no idea how you could help her with that. Do what your gut tells you. If it were my son, I would say "Dukie is really tired and he is going to be sleeping forever..." Or something like that... it sounds weird typed out.

But I do wish you luck, I am sorry for your loss. Your daughter will be fine soon enough. Maybe you could take her out to do something special.

oh, he is beautiful.  i'm so sorry.  hard question to answer though...i don't know what your beliefs are.  my daughter's been going through animal death since she was born, i don't really remember having to explain it to her.

tell her about the "rainbow bridge".

if you are one of those overly annoying people, who seem to get offended over every little thing, and like to pull out the "judgemental" card....please, do not quote me.  i don't pay attention to stupid and i do not deal with whiners.

get yourself a tissue, grow up, and move on.  and have a great day.  :-)

I'm really sorry about the loss of your Pit Bull, Dukie!  I also have a Pit and very few people are ever lucky enough to know that special "Pit love" that they give.  He was a beautiful dog. Please accept my sincere sympathy!

Only 1 in every 600 Pit bulls ever finds a loving home, the other 599 are killed due to ignorance and fear. Open your mind and heart, please adopt a rescued Pit bull.
