Barbie has gone undercover.
The best-selling doll has worn all sorts of outfits — from bathing suits to business suits.
Now Barbie is wearing a burkha.
The iconic plaything sports traditional Islamic dress for a Sotheby’s auction benefiting Save the Children.
Burkha Barbie is among more than 500 of the dolls exhibited by Italian designer Eliana Lorena at the Salone dei Cinquecento, in Florence, Italy, according to the Daily Mail.
Mattel, the maker of the Barbie, which turned 50 this year, backs the show, the Daily Mail noted.
Rosie Shannon, of Save the Children, told the paper she was “delighted Sotheby’s and the designer chose to auction the burka Barbie dolls for our charity.”
I want one!!
24 year old, God loving, non-vaxing, tutu making WAH momma to Jenelle, Gracelynn, and Sapphire. Girlfriend to Rachel (not wife, because apparently some people are AGAINST two loving, consenting adults marrying).
Seriously, the burkha is a form of oppression right? why would anyone condone that?
Quoting lizgriff:I'm anti barbie since she got a new body. What is the point of this post?
Thought it was interesting. Problem?

Is it? That's not the impression that I got listening to some Muslim women speak about wearing one.
Not really. There are more women that choose to cover than those that are "oppressed"
I would love to be able to fully cover, but where I live, small town USA, I get attacked for just covering my hair, I am scared to wear Niqaab!

No. The only thing I see is a story, nothing with your opinion. How am I suppose to know what your thoughts are about something you post when you don't include them?
