when i went to see new moon, the couple sitting behind us had their baby (probly 6-12 months) with them. this was at the 8 pm showing, it was COMPLETELY FULL. they had the baby sitting in its car seat in the dark aisle (anyone could have tripped over her)... and then they would hold her too and she would cry or scream. and the dad spent most of the movie going in and out of the theatre and basically couldnt even watch it. and the movie was very loud of course too so it wasnt fun for the baby either. i have just never in my life seen a baby at the movies and couldnt believe it!!

Yes, I have but it was basically because I had no choice. I am a live in companion for an adult that is DD.  So if she decides she wants to go to the movies off we go. Which most of the time means my son goes with us. He's 9 months now but he was 4 months old when he went to the movies for the first time. However, he as really good. I wore him in a sling and the only time I had to get up and leave was for a diaper change and to get him to latch to nurse.

i personally just started taking my children (ages 5 & 2) to the movies and it's always for a kid movie....i would NEVER take a baby though! I seen a couple take a newborn to some blow 'em up action movie once and this kid just screamed the whole time IMO i find it rude to everyone else in the theatre and if i couldn't get a sitter we would just have to wait until it came out on DVD...

Nope i do not take DD to the movies, there is no reason to take a baby to the movies. For this reason me and DH have only been to the movies three times this year...( DD is one on Wednesday).  We had a babysitter one night, and the other two nights DD was over at grandma house.

I might understand taking a baby to a kids films, but i never understand parents taking their baby to an adult film. Other people paid to see a movie, not to hear a baby cry.

I have taken my daughter with me to crybaby matinees before, where babies are welcome. They are wonderful! Great for SAHM's who just want to get out for awhile, but don't want to deal with a sitter :)

I used to.  usually they slept through the movie.  When they got older and wanted to run around was a problem.  And that was during kids movies.  At that point we got a babysitter for adult movies.

I am a good enough mom.  My opinions on parenting tactics change minute by minute depending on my mood and the situation.  I feel if the kids are still alive and fed by the end of the day I've done my job.  I am a Goofy Goober (see the Spongebob Movie). I believe in singing and other things that embarass your children. When my kids say I'm the meanest parent ever I take it as a compliment.  I've often yearned to box up my kids and ship them to Timbuktu.  I feel the best thing about having kids is reliving childhood.  I have a career and I'm proud of it.  You can mess with me and get away with it but God help you if you hurt my kids.  We are all flying by the seat of our pants with nothing but love to guide us.
