how high does the fever need to be? i thought with kids it is higher than what u think u would it would be. she has had fever for the last couple of days and tonite it reached 104 and we were able to get it down to 102 but if it goes up again how high before u just take the to the er?
edit:called her doctor, he couldnt fit her in so they said to take her to the hospital to get checked. her temp was 99. something, they checked her out and said she had the flu and the only flu they were seeing was swine flu so they said thats what she has. got home her temp is at 101 so we got her tons of liquids and meds. poor kid is goin to have this for her birthday
I would bring her to the doctor.

Its about fever...and it says something about 3 and under.

with my four year old they said 104 or higher.. with my hubs it was 102 or higher lol i thought it was funny... it is around 100.4 and higher if they are an infant and have it for more than five days or have had more than one fever before they are 8 weeks old. i hope your lil one is feeling better soon
A trip to the ER for a fever should be because of the following reasons. The child has a febrile seizure, or the fever does not respond to medications such as Motrin or Tylenol. Or if the child shows signs of dehydration, is lethargic, or shows other signs of being very ill. Other than that you should let it runs its course. Most of the time a call to the child's regular doctor is better than sitting in an er waiting room for 4-6 hours.

supper. but even when she does drink normally she drinks glasses at a time and is just refusing or only drinks half a plastic cup. i forgot to say that i took her temp with the ear thing
Quoting mommyziegler:
how long has it been since she drank anything?
Quoting CAarmywife:
she will be 3 this week. she had a normal bath, she has had tylenol. she wont drink, she hasnt been eating very much
Quoting aCajunAngel:
How old is she? Have you tried giving a cool bath?
I would do a rectal temp and as long as she is keeping fluids down you don't have to worry about dehydration but if she starts not drinking and not peeing i would take her in just so she can get some iv fluids
