Do you think long distance relationships work? Would you try one if you thought he was the one even though it would be a while before you guys moved in together?
yes I believe in long distance relationships. My husband and I have been married for 8 years and technically don't live together. There were a few years where we spent lots of time apart because of this and our living arrangements. We are lucky to only live an hour apart so it's not too long distance but it's not easy either.
I dated DH long distance before we got married. He was at Ft. Drum in NY and I lived in VA. Granted we only dated 6 weeks before getting married...it worked for us!
i cant speak for anyone else, but *I* couldnt do it. I want and need to be near to the person i love. i have trouble being away from my husband for a few days!! The longest we have ever been apart was when he went on a snowboard trip 2 years ago. Some people can do it just fine tho, one of my friends bf was in the army and they would go months or a year without seeing each other and now they have been together 5 years.

oh wow!! Did you only know him for 6 weeks or new him longer then dated for 6 weeks. I am in a long distance relationship and I will not be able to move until August at the earliest. But I think everything is going to work out for us;) We just met a lil over a month ago.
Long distance relationships work for some people. My SO and I have more time apart than together since we started dating and the distance was never a reason to end it for us. It's tough to be without the one you love, but if you put a lot of energy into it the relationship can turn out just fine.

The love of my life && I were in a long distance relationship before we moved in together...for 3 years we were long distance because of circumstances out of our control at the time. We're engaged and have an amazing little boy, I think they're hard as hell but they can work just as well as any other relationship if it's the right person :)
My DH and I met on AOL instant messenger through my best friend who he worked with. He lived in New Hampshire and I lived in Florida. We talked over the computer and phone for almost a year before we met in person. He came and spent a week with me in Florida. The connection was even better than I could have imagined. I moved to New Hampshire to be with him a month later. We have been married 5 years, have 2 wonderful boys and another baby on the way! :) I think it all depends on whether or not the two people involved want to make it work. I was my hubby's very first girlfriend! :)
We knew each other for about 7 weeks! LOL But we will be married 5 years in Feb and have 2 beautiful little girls together as well as my dd from a previous relationship, and she calls him daddy! (real daddy is in jail, haha the loser!!!)

I think some long distance relationships can work for some people. I don't think that MOST work or that MOST people are capable of it. I, for example, don't like them. I've done them before and there is NOTHING more depressing. No, if DH and I were for some inexplicable reason not to make it, I'd never try a long distance thing. Screw a bunch of that.
