There are alot of SAHMs who are raising their children while their husbands work. Now I am very curious, if you could switch places with your husband.... would you? Also, are there any women out there who are the working parent aka the bread winner and their husband is a SAHD?
With all that said, I do think that with the economy the way that it is. You may see alot of traditional gender roles get reversed. How do you feel about it?
We wouldn't trade places. We believe very strongly in traditional gender roles.
I am a Private School sending, Vaccinating, Non spanking, Nightmare Cuddling, Dessert Giving, Homework Helping, Bedtime Kissing, Book Reading, Academic pushing Mum. I believe in the benefit of organized after school activities. I believe in spoiling my children. I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it raising my child - I will do that, Thank You. I believe that a woman's place is in the home taking care of her house, children and husband. I am submissive and proud, my husband is head of my home. I am a proud, traditional Roman Catholic, as is my husband... Yes we are teaching our daughter that The Church is the only Church. Aimee
I would not switch roles with my husband and he wouldn't want my job. LOL
Working makes me miserable....to say the least because at home, with my kids is the only place I really want to be.
My dad is a stay at home husband...my mom's personal Domestic God as she calls him. He loves it and so does she. I don't think she would switch with him either. Dad stays home because with his PTSD he doesn't do well in a work environment and mom can bring in more money then he can.
I actually planned on going back to work after having DD, but after seeing her for the first time, there was no way! So, no it wouldn't work for us. DH is a work aholic and I love being a SAHM too much!
There are some families like that! I have seen some on here. Whatever works best. I presoanlly am happy their kids are lucky enough to havea parent home with them, I don;t care the gender!
We wouldn't trade either, but that isn't because we believe in traditional gender roles. Actually, we believe very strongly that each family should do whatever works best for them, regardless of tradition.

i think he's just as much their parent as i am... and having a penis doesn't mean he's exempt from doing his job.
if i could make the type of money he makes? heck ya girl.. it would be his turn to stay at home and manage the house and kids while i went out and made the money.
of course.. i'ld probably be homeless within the week.. staring at the pile of ashes that use to be my house.. because he's really not that great at watching the kids! lol
Whatever works best for you and your family :o) We are fans of tradition lol.

When my oldest was born, I worked nights and he worked days so our son didn't have to do childcare. So did that make him a SAHD since I wasn't there?
Right now, I'm a SAHM, but we're totally open for that shift if I need to go back. With my degrees, I could make more than him anyway. :)
