My son is 16 months and he takes his diaper off himself when it feels too full for him. He doesn't talk yet so I'm sot sure if he's ready. He seems to be very interested in his older brother using the potty. My DH wanted to buy him a potty for Christmas....should we try? My oldest didn't potty train till he was 3 due to delays. When do children usually potty train?
DD was 2, and DS is 3 but his little stubborn butt wont go potty!! He did so good when he was 2 and then he just stopped! idk he just wont go on the potty anymore :/ But yeah if your LO seems ready, give it a go :) gl momma
Potty training all depends on the child.
My daughter turned 2 in October and last year for Christmas I got her a potty chair and for the past year I have been putting her on the potty. She sometimes tells me and sometimes she will go when I ask.
I don't force the issue and don't get mad at her if she has accidents.
She is still in diapers, but anytime she says she needs to go I put her on the potty (even if I know she doesn't). I also ask her/tell her when she goes potty in her diaper that she should have told me and she could have went in the potty.
I believe she will be potty trained when she is ready.
I don't think it will hurt your son to introduce him to the potty, as long as it's a positive experience for him.
I think it depends on the child.. my DD is almost 15 months and we started potty training about 2 weeks ago, just because she is fascinated with potties and people going to the bathroom. We started easy.. for the first week we just talked with her about what was in her diapers, teaching her "potty" and "poopy" as words, and we would flush her poopies. We bought her a little potty training chair and she took right to it, peeing in it 2 times the first day. Its hit and miss with her but I knew it would be with her being so young. However she DOES know what going potty is.. she'll sit and sit on her potty and will start clapping the minute she pees... even before we noticed her going sometimes. I realize it's probably going to take awhile, but if your LO is interested, even at a young age, it doesn't hurt to start training!
